Serene Reflection Zen, known in Japanese as Shikantaza, is the practice of “just sitting” without trying to control, analyse, or improve experience. Rooted in the teachings of Dōgen and the Sōtō Zen tradition, it invites us to rest as awareness itself rather than chase thoughts or states. Nothing is rejected and nothing is grasped; thoughts, sensations, and sounds are allowed to rise and fall like reflections in a clear mirror. There is no object of meditation and no goal to achieve — sitting itself is the expression of awakening. In Serene Reflection, we discover that the stillness we seek is not created by effort, but revealed when striving relaxes.
