Transcript

Qi is a Chinese word to describe the vital life force energy that flows through all living things.

Traditionally,

Qi energy is believed to be everywhere and connects a universe on an ethereal level.

Qi goes by many names such as Qi in Japan,

Prana in India and Bio-electrical energy in the West.

On a personal level,

Qi is the life force that makes a human being totally present and alive.

It is the animation of life.

The human body radiates Qi energy that can be harnessed and channeled.

Increasing the body's Qi levels can make a person more vibrant and healthy.

The great Mahatma Gandhi said gracefully,

There is a force in the universe,

If we permit it,

Will flow through us and produce miraculous results.

Let's start this practice by igniting the body's Qi.

Rub your hands together until you feel an energy build up.

Keep rubbing your hands until you feel this energy.

Now bring your hands to a relaxed prayer position in front of your face but do not let them touch.

Focus all your energy into the center of your palms and begin to feel the sensation of a magnetic force.

Try to imagine a small ball of Qi or light energy forming between your hands.

Moving your palms in and out without touching.

As your palms close in towards one another,

You should notice a subtle feeling of resistance,

Much like two magnets trying to push away from each other.

Separate your hands slightly and then close them again.

Do this for the next few moments very slowly.

Now that we have ignited your Qi,

Place your hands where they feel comfortable and rested.

Gently close your eyes and take in a nice long deep breath through your nose and open your mouth and gently release.

Breathing in through the nose and breathing out through the mouth.

Breathe deep into your belly and slowly release.

Expand your belly and take in deeper breaths.

Extend your exhale and feel your body becoming lighter.

With each exhale,

Let your worries go.

Feel your body becoming more relaxed.

Now you may wish to switch your breathing through your nostrils,

Breathing in and out through your nose.

Consciously take in deep breaths for the next few moments,

Paying attention to the way the air flows in and out of your body.

Now let your breath go,

Let your harmonious breath take place.

Do not disturb the natural flow of your breathing.

Qi is in the space around you.

It is an infinite source of energy in the universe.

Take a moment to imagine and feel the Qi all around you.

See yourself pulling this powerful energy into your being,

Into your body.

It may help to visualize vibrant colors being pulled into your body through each breath.

As you inhale,

Imagine that you are pulling Qi energy into your body from the space around you.

As you exhale,

Let go of all your worries and stresses.

On your in-going breath you are taking life-force energy into your body.

On your outgoing breath,

Release the energy.

Feel the energy being drawn into your body.

Inhale and pull the powerful energy in,

Exhale and release.

Mentally label the in-going breath as in and the outgoing breath as out.

Breathing in the vital life-force energy,

Breathing out all your stresses and worries.

With each exhale,

Feel your body becoming more recharged.

Feel all your tension melt away with each exhale and feel your being being recharged with each inhale.

In and out.

Feel your body's vibration raise.

Now start to speed up your breath,

Breathing more explosively.

Use your power breath.

Now make your breath more rapid and sharp.

Follow your breathing through your diaphragm through your belly.

Feel your body's chi increasing.

Now let your breath go.

Allow your natural harmonious breath to take over.

Notice the wave of energy taking over your body.

Effortlessly surrender to this feeling.

Now peacefully embrace the sensations in your body.

With each breath,

Feel your body go into a deeper state of relaxation.

Effortlessly surrender to this feeling.

Exhaling and letting go,

Feeling more and more relaxed.

Use the next few moments to embrace your inner chi.

Now taking three deep breaths.

To conclude this practice I will leave you with a quote from the great samurai Miyamoto Musashi.

There is nothing outside of yourself that can ever enable you to get better,

Stronger,

Richer,

Quicker or smarter.

Everything is within.

Everything exists.

Seek nothing outside of yourself.
