Sometimes the most healing thing we can do is stop fighting the moment we’re in. In this video, mindfulness teacher Jessica Amos shares stories and a simple practice for releasing resistance and allowing life to unfold more naturally. Through the practice of learning to ‘stay with yourself’, you’ll leave feeling more spacious, grounded, and able to meet life’s storms with greater ease. Hi,

My name is Jessica Amos.

I'm a mindfulness teacher and coach,

And I'm the founder of Stay With Yourself,

Which is the practice of being who you are,

Where you are.

I am really excited to talk about today's topic because it's very,

Very relevant.

I was inspired to jump on here and chat with you about this because.

.

.

I have been enjoying some incredibly beautiful,

Hot,

Sunny weather here in Oregon,

Which can be a little bit rare.

But today it started raining.

It started raining today.

And my first thought was,

No,

I do not want it to be raining.

And my first feeling was resistance.

And I know there's some people who are just,

Oh,

Thank God for the rain,

So happy for the rain.

But my first thought was,

No more rain.

We have rain all year long.

So just noticing that my first response to the rain today has been resistance and wishing that it wasn't.

Reigning but knowing what i know about showing up mindfully and understanding what the buddha says when he says it changes And also learning to embody the whole idea of the only thing to do when it's raining is to let it rain,

Right?

So this applies to just about everything in our lives.

It's really this,

As soon as we can practice letting go of the resistance to what is,

The isness of the moment,

The circumstances exactly as they are,

Understanding that we have.

So little control over so many things in our lives.

You don't have control over other people.

We don't have control over the weather.

We have so little control.

But what we do have control over is how we respond and our response rate to what is happening that we don't have control over.

So it really is the acceptance of what is the isness of things that are happening.

And as soon as I just even saying that now.

I felt my whole belly just relax.

Like,

You know,

Like my whole insides were tense with resistance.

And it's amazing how when we're resisting just what's happening around us or in our life or even in our mind.

How it builds up in the body.

My invitation for you today is whatever's happening in your life.

What could we do here during this session?

To really accept the isness to release our resistance to what is happening.

Whatever it is.

Allow things to be exactly what they are and in that space inviting.

A sense of peace and a sense of understanding that it changes.

The only constant that we really experience in life is that everything is changing.

So this too shall pass.

Until next time,

May you stay with yourself today and always.
