Here we go.
Find yourself with your feet grounded on the earth.
Whether that's in a chair,
Standing up,
Or if you're lying down,
Feel the connection of your backside on the ground or bed beneath you.
Just begin to observe your breath.
Just noticing.
Noticing without judgement,
Just seeing what is here right now.
Noticing each inhale and each exhale.
Then beginning to notice what you hear.
Do you hear the hum of the refrigerator next to you?
Do you hear birds chirping outside or maybe the TV in the next room?
See if you can notice as many sounds as possible.
Next moving on to what you feel.
What do your clothes feel like on your skin?
Noticing the pressure of the air around you.
What is the temperature like in the space that you're in?
Noticing any other things that you can feel or touch.
Next noticing what you smell.
What does the air smell like around you if you're outside?
Seeing if you can pick up on any of the smallest smells.
Maybe there's food cooking nearby.
Next noticing what you taste.
Notice how your mouth feels,
How your tongue feels like resting on the bottom of your mouth.
Did you just eat a meal?
Noticing what you taste.
Finally noticing what you see.
Noticing the shapes,
The colors,
The shadows,
The light.
See if you can spot one thing that brings you joy.
Just the sight of it ignites a little bit of joy.
Whether it's a favorite color,
A sentimental object or even something you can't explain.
Now bringing all of your senses together.
What does it feel like to be in this moment right now?
Are there any other sensations or emotions present?
Just noticing them without judgment,
Just observing.
