This meditation is for those mornings when we wake up and anxiety, fear, and disaster mind have taken over before we have even gotten out of bed. A feeling in our body triggers us into countless stories, worries, judgements and fears. We may find ourselves angry and frustrated with ourselves and double down on the uncomfortable feelings. In this morning meditation we release ourselves from the story, hold space for the feeling and allow it to metabolize and move through us. Whatever we resist persists. From a place of courage we surrender, allow and step into courage so we can honor another day given to us and stay open to the Divine unfolding that can take place when we trust we are safe and loved by the universe.

Sometimes we wake with a heavy feeling of anxiety and fear in our chest before we can even open our eyes the thoughts of inadequacy,

Not good enough,

Don't have enough,

Feelings of fear of what we have to face through the day.

Our mind races an obsession trying to find something to help us feel safe and secure as if worry and contemplation will ground us.

In this morning practice,

Upon wakening,

We surrender our fear and our anxiety.

We come into our bodies,

Into our spirits,

Release ourselves from the responsibility of shape-shifting the world and however we think it needs to look and feel and we surrender to the divine unfolding.

So let's get started by taking a really big deep breath into the heart center and as you exhale surrender.

Allow your body to fall towards the earth.

Another big deep inhale in,

Exhaling,

Letting go,

Release the tightness and tension,

Allowing yourself to fall closer to the earth.

And now I want you to look past all of the story because there is a feeling in your body that you are experiencing this morning and the ego is trying to attach a reason for it.

We look past the mind's eye and we find that place in our body.

So scan and identify the feeling behind your thoughts this morning.

You can identify your feeling with sensation.

I'm experiencing tightness,

I'm experiencing consistent vibration.

And as you find this space,

Take a big deep breath in,

Exhale and release and imagine making more room for it.

Instead of fighting it or wanting it to go away,

Expand that part of your body.

Say,

I see you,

I'm gonna give you some more room and keep breathing into that place.

As you make space for that feeling,

You can allow yourself to see it as a color,

A light or a texture.

Keep breathing into it without trying to figure it out.

Identify what it is for,

Where it's coming from.

If you need more imagery,

You can imagine taking it to a beach or a forest and letting it move around and expand itself and feel itself as you witness with curiosity,

Love and compassion.

As you keep breathing into it,

Allowing it to be there,

Metabolizing it.

As you continue to surrender to the feeling instead of fighting it or resisting it,

Notice if it has changed at all.

Sometimes we do this practice and we find immediate relief and sometimes we recognize we're going to have to surrender multiple times today.

But the practice is to move ourself from fear into courage,

To have the courage to be with the feeling,

To surrender the thoughts,

The stories and to trust in the divine unfolding.
