Definition: A klesa is an afflictive mental state such as hatred, craving, or ignorance. Note: This is a strong practice that can release large amounts of energy. Only do this practice when you feel safe, grounded, and mentally/emotionally at ease. In the spirit of the Radical Embrace, we notice what is present, and we welcome it to our practice. After settling body and mind, we open to what is coming and going in the six senses. When we notice a klesa, the invitation is to "unhook" and drop the attention to what is happening in the sensing body. We can notice the disconnect between the thought and the sensations and watch it until it releases and liberates.
