Settle in as you find yourself in a comfortable seated position.
Let your hands rest in your lap and take three slow,
Deliberate breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
With each exhale,
Imagine releasing any impatience,
Any pressure to see results this morning.
You are here to plant,
Not to harvest.
So,
Let that be enough.
Galatians 6 verse 9.
And let us not grow weary of doing good,
For in due season we will reap if we do not give up.
We will reap if we do not give up.
Spring is a season of planting,
Beloved,
And planting requires faith.
When a farmer presses a seed into the ground,
There is no immediate evidence that anything has happened.
The soil looks the same,
The field looks empty,
But something has begun.
Think about the seeds you have been planting in your own life,
The prayer you've been praying for someone who hasn't changed yet,
Or the habit of faithfulness you've been building quietly,
With no applause.
The work you're doing in your family,
Your calling,
Your formation,
That doesn't seem to be producing visible fruit just yet,
But here is what Paul reminds us as he writes to people who are tired.
The word for the weary here suggests a deep exhaustion from the work of doing good.
It's the fatigue of faithfulness,
Of giving and serving,
And showing up,
And wondering if it's making any difference.
And his answer isn't,
Try harder,
His answer is not,
Don't give up,
Because there is a due season,
Friend,
The harvest is coming.
What you are planting in faith has not been lost.
God is tending what you cannot yet see.
So my question to you this morning for your reflection,
What seed are you tempted to give up on this morning?
Name it quietly before God.
Now let's pray,
Lord,
I'll be honest,
Some mornings it's hard to keep planting when I can't see the growth.
Some days faithfulness feels invisible,
And I wonder if it's worth it.
But today I choose to trust your seasons.
I choose to believe that the seeds I am pressing into the ground,
In prayer,
In obedience,
In love,
In the ordinary work of this day are not wasted.
I believe you see every one of them.
Oh Lord,
Give me the courage to keep planting where I cannot yet see.
Give me the patience for the seeds in the people I love who are still unfolding.
Give me trust for the work in my own soul that feels slow.
I don't want to give up.
So I come to you this morning for the strength to continue.
Not to see results today,
Just want to remain faithful today,
Lord.
Renew that in me now.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Receive this closing blessing as you go throughout your day.
Go plant something today.
A word of encouragement,
A moment of prayer,
A small act of faithful obedience.
You see,
It may not look like much,
But God is watching every seed.
Beloved,
The harvest is coming.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
