Awareness.
Usually we set goals and create plans in our daily activities.
Awareness,
However,
Works differently.
In this mode,
The world around us is in action and we are merely observing,
With little control over what happens.
Awareness is the gift that allows us to notice what's happening around us and within us in the present moment without getting attached.
It enables us to observe our bodily sensations,
Thoughts,
Feelings,
Sounds,
Visual cues,
And even tastes and smells.
Through detached observation,
We can see more in everything.
For example,
A flower reveals more of itself when we simply observe it without interfering.
This is true for all things.
Achieving awareness isn't about exerting force.
It involves minimal effort but consistent practice.
It's about allowing things to happen,
Being present,
And accepting the now.
When you start labeling aspects of the Source,
You're no longer just observing.
You're analyzing.
Awareness comes first as a pure connection with the focus of your attention.
If something strikes you as interesting or beautiful,
First you experience it,
Then later you might try to understand it.
While we can't change what we're noticing,
We can improve our ability to notice.
Our awareness can be expanded or narrowed.
Experienced with open or closed eyes,
We can quieten our inner world to perceive more of the outside or vice versa.
The universe is as large as our perception of it.
By cultivating our awareness,
We're expanding our universe,
Which in turn broadens both the material available for creativity and the life we experience.
Looking for clues.
Material for creativity is everywhere in conversations,
Nature,
Chance,
Encounters,
And existing art.
When seeking solutions to creative challenges,
It's important to stay observant of your surroundings.
Look for clues that could lead to new methods or the further development of current ideas.
A writer in a cafe,
For instance,
Might overhear a phrase that sparks the next line in their story.
We receive these types of messages constantly,
Provided we're open to them.
A line in a book or scene in a movie might offer the exact answer we're seeking or echo an idea that's been recurring in our lives.
These clues are subtle,
Always present,
But easy to miss.
If we're not actively looking for them,
They might pass us by unnoticed.
When something unusual happens,
It's worth asking why and exploring its potential message or meaning.
This process isn't exact.
We can't control or force these clues to appear.
Sometimes having a strong intention helps,
While at other times,
Letting go of that intention can lead to discovery.
Deciphering these signals is an integral part of an artist's work.
The more open you are,
The more clues you will find,
And the less effort you'll need to put in.
You might find that you can rely less on thinking and more on intuitive understanding.
Imagine the outside world as a conveyor belt of small packages constantly passing by.
The first step is to notice the conveyor belt.
Then,
Whenever you're ready,
You can pick up one of those packages,
Unwrap it,
And discover what's inside.
So here are the practices.
Step one,
Mindful observation.
Select a common object in your environment.
Spend 10 minutes observing it mindfully,
Noticing details you usually overlook.
It could be a plant,
A piece of furniture,
Or even a cup.
Step two,
Journal reflection.
Write about your experience of observing the object.
How did your perception of it change?
Did you notice anything new or unexpected?
Step three,
Creative interpretation.
Use your observations as inspiration for a creative piece.
This could be a drawing,
A short story,
A poem,
Or even a conceptual design based on the object.
So let's sum this up So let's sum this up plainly.
Developing awareness means observing the world and our inner experiences with an open mind without trying to control or analyze them.
This practice allows us to gather a rich array of creative material from our surroundings and our thoughts and feelings.
What do you think?
One,
How can practicing detached observation in your daily life enhance your creativity?
Two,
Can you recall a moment when you found inspiration in an unexpected place or situation?
Three,
What steps can you take to become more observant and receptive to the creative clues around you?
How to self-baseline to measure for success?
To enhance your awareness,
Start a daily practice of mindfulness.
Set aside a few minutes each day to simply observe your surroundings or your inner thoughts without judgment.
Note how this practice changes the way you perceive the world and your creative ideas.
Over time,
This will help you develop a heightened sense of awareness,
Making you more receptive to the subtle creative cues in your environment.
Congratulations,
We have reached the end of this session.
In the next session,
We will focus on rituals and awareness,
Exploring how establishing certain habits can further enhance our connection to creativity and help us harness it more effectively in our daily lives.
Remember,
The more you think about these concepts and use them,
The faster they will work for you.
Thank you for allowing me to serve you.
As always,
Remember,
It's a great day to be alive and I'll see you in the next session.
Take care.
Bye for now.
