I find what breathwork does is it clears the mind and the body of clutter in a really real way.
It almost cuts off our thinking minds,
Brings us into our body in a really dramatic way often.
So it's been a life buoy for me to help me get out of that sometimes frenetic spinning of the mental neuroses and fears and stresses and to-do lists and just radically grounds us into our body.
So before you begin,
If you haven't done breathwork before,
You might feel lightheaded,
You might get a little bit dizzy.
I just want you to know that you'll be okay and that no harm will come to you.
It's just getting a lot of oxygen into the blood and the body and really waking everything up.
It's an enlivening experience so try and just lean yourself away from fear into trust and enjoyment and pleasure.
So let's begin now.
So remember it's in the mouth,
Out the mouth,
Never using the nose.
Okay and we'll do that for 20 rounds and then on the last breath I'm gonna instruct us all to just empty and hold empty for as long as you can.
And then we do a recovery breath,
Holding full for a few seconds and then we go back into the next round.
Try and hold for as long as you can at the end just to really deprive the body of oxygen for a moment to get the real full effects of breathwork.
Okay trust me I would never lead you where I have not been so you're in good hands.
Okay let's begin just settling into this body,
This beautiful body,
This complex dynamic vital being that is us.
It's really turning our gaze inward,
Coming to feel that we are here,
We are here in this body,
We are home.
And once we really settle into the body and the being that is us,
Immediately a sort of care comes to the surface.
We care,
We love,
We care and we love.
So let's just remember that now in this moment.
We are caring and we are loving for this being that we sometimes forget to care for.
So breathing in.
Last breath,
Exhale all the way out and then hold empty.
Recovery breath,
Hold full.
Exhaling,
Noticing already.
Now we'll do one more round,
Two more rounds actually.
So holding empty.
Recovery breath,
Holding full.
Just coming more and more alive and alert.
And one more round.
Holding empty.
Recovery,
Holding full.
Exhaling.
I am here in this body,
I am home.
I am here in this body,
I care.
So slowly and subtly we begin to direct our consciousness in a way,
Right?
Our breath creates the spaciousness for our minds to grow quiet and us to remember that we are here and that we care and that we are in our bodies.
We're informing our consciousness to not run so wild with the mind,
To just be deliberate and reverent.
Acknowledging the breath,
Acknowledging the heart.
