Workout Snack.
Today when my body reminds me to snack on food,
I will honour that.
At the same time,
When my mind reminds me that I need to work out,
I will snack on movement,
On a stretch,
On some goofy jumping jacks,
Or a short walk around the block.
I am not replacing a delicious snack for a workout of some sort,
I am just making room for both.
I can make the time to go for beers with friends,
I can make the time to watch Netflix,
I can make the time to call a friend,
And I can make the time to work out every day.
Some days,
Working out looks like lifting weights in the gym for an hour.
Sometimes it looks like sweating on a spin bike.
Sometimes it's flow yoga.
But most times,
Five push-ups,
Or ten chin-ups,
Or twenty jumping jacks,
Or a simple stretch is just plenty enough to work out and be kind to my working body,
Reminding myself that I am just snacking on movement,
A balance between energy in and energy out.
I will snack on a workout right here,
Right now.
