Yoga Nidra: Inspiration With The Ultimate Power Nap
In this Yoga Nidra practice, we explore what it means to surrender completely and to be open to our Inspiration. To let go of the doing and to trust entirely in being. Yoga Nidra is a powerful practice for directly experiencing the deeper layers of our consciousness. Moving through the six steps or connecting with self, we awakened to the Inspiration of ourselves as a whole and liberated.
Transcript
Welcome to your practice of yoga nidra.
Lay on your back with your arms a bit away from your body in a neutral rotation.
If you're sitting in your chair,
Feel how your chair is supporting you.
As you lay on your back,
Press your arms into the floor and allow your chest to rise.
As your shoulder blades hug into your back,
Release the back down.
Let your eyes settle into the sockets,
Lips part.
Let the back of your tongue drop away from the roof of your mouth.
Allow the fingertips to gently curl and your feet to flop.
Feel your body release into the earth.
You want to remain as still as you can for this practice.
So take your time letting go and making any adjustments you need.
You are welcome to move anytime during the practice to make yourself comfortable.
Try and move slowly and keep the eyes closed.
As you do remember,
It is better to get comfortable than to lie distracted in discomfort.
Take a moment now you've been settling in and see can I find maybe two,
Three percent,
Even more comfort in the way that I'm sitting or laying down at this moment.
As we begin the practice of yoga nidra,
Don't worry about what you should be feeling or how deep you are going.
Tell yourself that you are going to listen to the sound of my voice.
You are going to remain awake.
Tune into the sense of hearing to the sounds around you.
Take in the most distant sounds you can hear.
Something outside your room,
As far out as you hear.
There is no need to seek it out.
Open your awareness to receive.
Acknowledge and release.
Jump from one sound to the next.
Now move in a little closer to your room.
Perhaps the sounds of the walls,
The floors.
Just jump from sound to sound.
Moving closer.
Sounds within your body.
Your breath,
Your heartbeat.
As you move to the inner landscape of the mind,
Allow there to be a sense of coming home,
Of turning in,
A safety,
Comfort.
Remind yourself that you are going to stay awake.
You are going to listen to the sound of my voice and stay awake.
If at any time you need to change the story,
My words,
The awareness or leave the practice,
You are welcome to do so.
You are in charge and can open your eyes at any time and re-enter at any time.
We are going to begin to move through a rotation of consciousness.
Your body will remain still while your mind's eye follows my guidance.
If you can't see or feel part of the body you hear,
You can silently repeat it back to yourself.
See a white light shining bright and pure.
Watch as it resets below your feet and begins to rise up into your toes and then spread through the soles of your feet,
Over your heels,
Into your ankles and bathe both feet in pure white light.
Let the light rise up,
Your legs filling the chins and calves.
It glows into both knees and shines into the upper legs,
Your thighs and hamstrings.
Then all the light pulls into your pelvic floor,
Flooding it in pure white light.
The light begins to shine up into the tailbone,
Lightening up each vertebrae as it rises.
It pauses at the sacrum and shines out.
The light pours into the whole pelvic floor and hips.
Draw the light back in and watch as it rises up behind the navel,
And shines out into the belly.
It fills up your lower back,
So much light.
Feeling your organs and then drawing back into the spine to rise all the way to the heart.
And then it shines out into the heart,
Into your lungs and filling your rib cage.
The light shines through the whole belly and chest,
The upper back.
You are bathed in light and it all draws back to the spine to shine into your throat,
Filling the neck.
It cascades down over your shoulders and pours down to the front of your arms,
Into the elbow creases,
Through the forearms and over your wrists to fill your palms in light.
Let it flow down into the thumbs,
Second fingers,
Third fingers,
Fourth fingers and fifth fingers.
Feel the back of your hands in light and watch as it shines up the back of your wrists,
Through the forearms,
Over the elbows and back up over the triceps,
Through the shoulders and back to the spine.
The light rises all the way to the top of your spine.
Watch as the light travels up through the roof of your mouth and into the brain,
Bathing the brain in pure white light.
Cleansing the conscious mind,
The subconscious mind and the unconscious mind.
Let it float up to the crown and pour over the forehead,
Shine into the brows,
Over the eyes and the nose,
All the way down over the upper and lower lips.
Watch the light spread over the cheeks,
Through the jaws,
Ears and wash over the back of the head until the whole body is bathed in pure white light.
The whole body together in this beautiful,
Pure white light.
Remind yourself that you are going to stay awake.
Bring your awareness to your breath.
Don't change it.
Just feel the gentle inhales and exhales.
As you inhale,
Imagine the light rising from the base of the pelvic floor all the way up to the crown of your head.
And as you happen to exhale,
Watch the light drop back down.
Begin to count backwards from eleven.
The light rises and falls eleven,
Rises and falls ten.
If you lose your place,
Start over again.
You are counting back from eleven.
If you've lost your place,
Just start again.
And now let go of the counting.
There is nothing that you need to make up.
Remind yourself that you are going to stay awake.
You are going to listen to the sound of my voice.
And if you drift off,
Come back when you remember.
Begin to awaken the sensation of heaviness in your body.
Let your body grow heavier and heavier with each passing moment.
It is as though you are being filled up with sand.
Your heels feel heavy.
Your legs feel heavy.
Your hips feel heavy.
Your spine feel heavy.
Your arms so heavy.
Your head is heavy.
You couldn't even lift a finger if you tried.
Awaken the sensation of heaviness.
The whole body is heavy.
Now awaken the sensation of lightness in your body.
Feel as if the sand were leaving the body.
And you're being filled up with air.
So light.
Floating from the ground.
Your heels are light.
The legs are light.
Your hips are light.
Your spine is so light.
The arms are light.
Your head is light.
You are floating like you are weightless.
Awaken the sensation of lightness.
The whole body as light as a feather.
Now awaken a feeling of expansion.
Expand your body.
Space in your muscles,
In your joints.
Expand it in your mind and thoughts.
Expensive emotionally.
Fully experience a state of expansion.
Now release the feeling of expansion and awaken the feeling of contraction.
How does the body feel while contracted?
What comes with it?
Awaken the sensation of contraction in the physical body.
Feel contracted in the mind and thoughts.
Contracted emotionally.
Immerse yourself fully in the feelings of contraction.
Now move back into feeling expanded.
Fully immerse yourself in the expansion.
Now bring yourself back to feeling contracted.
Feel how your whole body feels contracted.
Now go back to feeling expanded.
See for a moment if you can feel both at the same time.
And now release it all.
Now as we begin to move through different images,
Allow whatever comes up to move up spontaneously.
Without attachment.
Without emotion or story.
It may be an image,
But it could be a smell,
A sound or a feeling.
Let it float up and then release it moving on to the next as quickly as I move through them.
Rainbow spreading across the sky.
Climbing a mountain.
Sunrise over the river.
Dancing your heart out.
Belly laughter.
A wise elephant sharing her stories with you.
Your favorite book.
Your teacher.
A bank page.
Waves crashing into the shore.
Meditation.
The smell of fresh rain on the pavement.
A lullaby.
A deep breath.
Crowd cheering.
Singing along to your favorite song.
Wind blowing through your hair.
Silver crescent morn.
Thousand petaled lotus flower.
Inspiration.
Unconditional love.
Trust.
Surrender.
Wisdom.
Let all of this go and remind yourself you are going to remain awake.
Now see yourself in a rainforest.
You are standing beneath a canopy of enormous trees.
You can look up and see a little bit of the sky poking through the leaves and the sunbeams making their way down.
You can feel the softness of the earth underneath your feet.
It's a bit humid.
And you can feel the dampness on your skin.
In your hair.
And your lungs.
As you walk through the forest,
You feel completely at ease.
Safe.
And as if you are being led somewhere.
Guided.
There are layers of songs being sung by all different birds.
You see waves of brilliant colors flying past you as the parrots and other birds open their wings and soar through the trees.
Up even further in the trees are monkeys.
They are calling out to one another and playing,
Swinging from branch to branch,
Following you as you continue to make your way down the path.
You see the iridescent wings of beautiful butterflies fluttering past you and resting on the trunks of the trees.
It is as though you sense a smell.
It is heightened as you take in the wet earth.
The frequent flowers,
The mystery smells the wind brings to you.
In the distance,
You see a little hut.
And you start to make your way over to it.
As you approach,
You notice a warm glow around it,
Welcoming you.
The door is open and as you step inside,
It feels as if you are waiting for you.
Surrounding the walls are pictures of your teachers.
Every teacher you've had has been a guiding force,
A help,
Stability for you.
They are all surrounding you here.
You can feel their energy.
It's as if they are all with you.
In the center of the room is a little table with a white candle.
The single flame is just glowing and flickering,
Inviting you to sit.
You come to a comfortable seat and close your eyes in meditation.
You drop right in,
Deeper than you've ever been.
Instantly connected,
Like a drop falling right back into the ocean.
Your ability to tap into the universal consciousness comes with such ease,
That the lessons,
The information are simply available to you.
They come flooding in.
Allow yourself to sit in this space.
Any questions,
Any doubts or desire,
Even fear will leave.
It will all be answered,
Become clear.
You will just be.
Here you are ready to work with your son Kalpa.
A seat or an intention.
If you have one already,
You will continue to use it until it manifests in your life.
If you are looking for one,
It is a quality you are looking to bring into your life.
Something that you feel strongly connected to.
That you are deeply desiring.
Something you feel an emotional connection to.
It will be stated as if it already exists in your life.
It will put in positive terms.
Some examples are,
I am making healthy choices.
I give and receive love unconditionally.
I trust the intuition and wisdom of my body.
I know it is my time to follow my path.
When you have found your son Kalpa,
See it being written across the screen of your mind three times in your handwriting.
It may also come in other forms,
Like images or sounds.
See or hear it clearly.
Allow your breath to begin to deepen.
Feel yourself coming back to your room.
To your space and your body.
Wiggle your fingers and point and flex your feet.
Stretch your arms over your head.
If you are laying down,
Draw your knees in and roll to your side.
Before you open your eyes,
Just pause.
Bring your hands together in front of your heart.
And honour yourself for coming today to this practice.
If you are laying down,
Slowly make your way up to sitting.
Sit nice and tall.
Allow the base to be strong and grounded.
Open your heart and slowly open your eyes.
Namaste.
Thank you for practicing with me.
My name is RenΓ©e from Sagittarius Way.
And welcome back.
