We all have different voices in our heads, like different characters of a movie. Carl Jung calls them archetypes. By learning to create distance and become the watchful observer of the archetypes of our Damsel, Judge and Victim, we learn to become free from self-inflicted doubt and fear.

Today's meditation is about connecting to the archetype of the victim or the damsel in distress and our inner judge.

And the meditation is about embodying the archetypes,

The stories of how we came to know this.

How to know our pain story.

How we came to be addicted to having issues,

To having problems.

So we'll be standing for this meditation.

Take a deep breath in through your nose.

Exhale sigh through the mouth.

Let everything go.

Inhaling through the nose.

Exhale sigh through the mouth.

Feeling a full body breath.

Feeling the breath rise from the base of the feet up to the crown of the head.

Exhale sighing.

Release the hands down by your sides.

And visualize the arches of your feet as if you could breathe through the arches of the feet.

And feel that energy lift.

Lifting up through the ankles,

The shins,

The knees,

The thighs,

The foundation of your being,

Your legs.

And the exhale root that energy down as if there's tree trunks or roots growing out through the feet.

And breathe wide across the sacrum and the lower back,

The back of the ribs,

The shoulders.

On the exhale sigh,

Let all the tension go from the shoulders,

The chest,

The belly dropping down,

Down,

Down.

Feeling the arms often becoming heavier at the same time.

The fingers becoming alive.

The spaces between the fingers,

The spaces between the heart and the head.

Lengthening the bridge of the neck.

Exhale sigh.

Feeling the weight of the head,

All of the thoughts in the head.

The brain,

The contents that fill up the skull.

15,

20 pounds,

So heavy.

Feeling all of that heaviness.

And sigh.

Breathing into the whole body,

The whole experience with breath.

And very gently start to rock the body side to side like a swaying palm tree.

A swaying palm tree.

And in this swaying,

Connect to the element of wind as if you're being blown from side to side.

So feel the air around you and how it touches your skin.

And if it so should move you forward and backwards or in circles or in a figure eight,

Allow,

Allow that to move you.

We're moving out of our comfort zone,

Out of the norm from seated meditation to standing with eyes closed and connecting to our felt sense,

To our feeling.

That's allow the body to move.

An enlightened spiritual teacher said that there's no perfect moment,

There's no perfect experience.

So whatever your expectations of what meditation is or whatever it was,

Let that go.

Whatever your reaction is to this music,

Let it go.

Connect to whatever is happening right now,

To this music,

To this experience,

To your body at this moment right now.

And I invite you to connect to your damsel in distress.

And that damsel is always needing an external force to help,

Help take us out from a certain predicament,

A situation.

And what is that situation?

Does that situation live somewhere in the body?

Is it trapped somewhere in the body?

Where does your damsel live?

Is it living in your neck in the form of pain?

Is it in the lower back?

That's tension.

And when did you first become seduced by the romantic illusion that your knight in shining armor is going to fetch you out of your own misery?

When did that happen?

Is that even real?

In an experience in the body,

What shape the damsel takes,

How does the damsel move?

How does the damsel feel?

How does the damsel carry herself or himself?

What does the damsel really want?

Is the damsel always wanting to be dependent on others?

Or is the damsel really wanting to be independent and free,

Reliant on herself and having a healthy relationship between helping and being helped?

Where in our lives are we always seeking for people to do things for us?

Because we feel we can't do it ourselves.

And what about the opposite?

Are we at balance with that?

Connect to the inner damsel.

What does your inner damsel want?

What is she saying?

That's it.

Move into the body,

Find it in the body.

The body's key.

The body is like a tree with rings.

And each ring in the tree carries a record of history,

Of emotion,

Of a story that happened when we were children or teenagers or adults.

And we keep that there like a library of information.

Find that piece of information and play it out.

Watch that story unfolding.

Is it in the hands?

Is it in the legs,

The feet?

Magnify that.

Make that bigger.

Make the damsel very,

Very obvious.

And where in your body is calling out for help?

Where in your body is this damsel in distress?

And can you help yourself or do you need to wait?

Or something else,

Something outside of yourself to help you?

Whether it's yes or no,

The next question to ask is,

Is this true?

Whether it's yes or no,

Is it true?

And now connect to your victim,

Your victim's story.

When did you first play the part of the victim?

Was it after school one day?

Was it at home when you were playing with your siblings?

Was it the first time you went on public transportation out by yourself?

When was the first time you were aware of playing the victim?

And did it feel good to receive pity?

Was that the secret benefit of continuing to play this victim?

Because to own pain means that we exist.

Someone recognizes,

Acknowledges us.

Where is this victim's story in the body?

Where is it?

How did it happen?

Get out of your head.

Feel it in the body.

Make the body moving.

Find it.

How is the victim's story expressing itself?

Is it in the hips?

In the pubic bone,

The tailbone,

The sit bones,

The femurs?

Where is this victim?

Where is it hiding?

Where does the victim love attention?

And so by seeking attention,

How is it that we as victims create unhealthy personal boundaries?

Because we're seeking that attention.

We're seeking pity.

And can we recognize it?

Can we see it?

And if we see it,

What's the next step?

What do we do from there with that pity?

Can we let go of this story?

Letting go of the first time that we were victimized,

Either by ourselves or by someone else.

Begin to shake the fingers and shake the wrists and the forearms and the elbows and the upper arms,

The whole arms,

Upper arms,

Everything is shaking.

Shake it,

Shake it,

Shake it,

Shake it.

That's it.

Shake it out.

Shake it really fast so it's not choreographed,

It's not controlled.

That's it.

Body is swaying,

Arms are shaking.

Movement breaks up stagnation.

Movement breaks us out of our heads.

Now move the neck and the head.

Move it side to side in figure eights,

Make circles with them.

You can move up and down,

Side to side,

Forward and back,

Whatever.

Move your head in an uncontrolled way.

Continuing the swaying of the body,

The shaking and the releasing of the arms.

And don't treat these as activities,

A checklist.

Allow this to be a breaking up of stagnation,

A movement of energy.

Feel that energy move through the body.

Breaking up the stories of the damsel and the victim.

Break out of that.

Breaking out of the shell of self judgment in the head.

Worries of uncertainty,

Worries of the past,

Worry of the future,

Of things not yet come.

Placing our worry and our energy wasted on things we cannot control.

So instead,

Put your energy in shaking.

Shake your body.

Shake your body.

That's it.

And when you find yourself judging yourself or the others in the room,

Shake some more.

Shake.

Shaking out all those moments of destructive self criticism or criticism onto others.

Your misuse of knowledge,

Your misuse of judgments.

Shake out all of your senses of entitlement.

Entitled to feel this or entitled to own this.

Entitlement not only to own material things,

But to own certain feelings.

A righteous feeling of this is my pain.

Shake all that out.

Shake out the entitlement.

That's it.

Keep on shaking.

And in the shift of the music,

Shake.

By shaking,

We are redistributing the energy in the body.

Moving the energy from the arms,

The limbs into the heart,

Into your navel.

And shake all the excess thought out of the head and move it downwards through the bridge of the neck.

Send it into the heart.

All that thinking energy.

All that time wasted by thinking.

Move it out.

Out of the head and down.

Shake out the fear of the unknown.

Shake out the fear of missing out on life.

Shake out the fear of pain.

Shake out the fear of feeling free when you have no pain story.

Shake your fear of being successful at this.

Shake out your fear of fear itself.

All of it.

Shake it out now.

That's it.

Make it real.

Make it real.

Nothing is real unless you commit to making it real.

Use your breath.

Breathe out through your mouth.

Sigh.

Let it go.

Make a sound.

That's it.

Open your mouth,

Open your jaw,

Separate your teeth.

Relax the tongue.

Tight tongue,

Tight jaw.

Tight jaw,

Tense neck.

Tense neck,

Overthinking.

Let it go.

Sigh.

Open your mouth.

If any sounds want to come out,

Let it come out.

This is your chance to break out of your shell.

That's it.

Let it go.

Sigh.

That's it.

All the way,

All the way.

Commit to it fully.

Go there.

If you feel like you want to start moving around the room,

Go ahead.

Move.

There's nothing holding you back.

Or is there?

Is that damsel still there?

The victim still there?

We want them to still be there in their shadow forms.

That's it.

Feel the music.

Feel the beat.

Feel your bones.

Feel the vibrations coming from your heart,

From your belly,

From your legs.

Feel everything that is real and authentic.

Shake out the fear of sweating.

Shake out the fear of looking silly.

Shake out the fear of being right all the time or being politically correct or normal.

Whatever that is,

Shake it out.

That's it.

We're no longer a damsel in distress.

We're no longer a victimized child or a teenager or an adult.

We're no longer a judge who is unfair and who thinks they have the authority to criticize self or others.

We're no longer these things.

Break free from all of these archetypes that hold us down.

That's it.

Shake,

Shake,

Shake like you're out of your skin.

Shake out of your skin like you have no more body anymore.

The physical body gone,

Melted,

Dissipated.

It's just you and spirit.

You and emotion.

You in motion.

You in energy.

That's it.

There's no choreography here.

This isn't pre-planned.

This is life.

Life flows.

Life just moves.

Life moves with no rhyme or reason.

It just goes like a river moving downstream.

Things move in this universe with the law of physics.

Things move downwards into gravity.

Some things fly,

Some things are grounded.

Sometimes there's catastrophes.

It is what it is.

And we shake and we move to accept that.

That's it.

Feel that.

Shake into your acceptance.

Shake into your acceptance.

This is you.

This is me.

I am you and you are me.

Stars,

Light up my life.

Stars,

Light up my life.

Stars,

Light up my life.

Stars,

Light up my life.

Last five minutes to shake.

Shaking it out slow,

Medium,

Fast.

Doesn't matter.

Shake out how you feel.

Shake it as how you feel.

Last opportunity to release anything that needs to be released.

To release any story that needs to go.

Any old story.

And make sure it doesn't repeat itself.

These patterns,

These habits.

So commit to this shaking.

Make it real.

Ooooooh.

What I need.

Sun in dawn.

Your love.

Oh,

You're mine.

Good.

That's it.

Feel it.

Feel it.

Feel that.

Feel that.

Keep on going.

Oh.

Evolution.

Evolution.

Evolution.

Evolution.

Evolution.

That's it.

Let it go.

Use your breath.

Breathe out through your mouth.

Evolution.

Any sounds that feel natural,

That feel real.

Let it out.

Evolution.

This is us evolving.

Evolving out of our patterns.

Evolving out of our misery.

Evolve.

Evolve.

Move to evolve.

Keep moving.

That's it.

All of that.

Evolution.

Last few moments here.

Last few moments.

Stay with it.

Stay with it.

So bright.

Come sit down or lay down on your back or your belly.

Feel your way down.

Sit any which way that feels right.

Lay down any which way that feels right.

Fidget around till it feels like you can stay still for a few moments to observe what has happened.

Very much like shaking up a snow globe.

We moved all the flakes around inside the container.

And after we've stopped,

There's still an echo.

There's still the ripple,

The after effect,

The follow through.

Observe that follow through.

Observe what's happening in the body as sensation.

Sensation translated as emotion,

As feeling.

Observing if those stories that were there that you found or that you found again,

Are they still true?

Were you able to shake it out of the system to shake that pattern,

To reset the pattern?

So that you can replace that habit with a new habit.

And right now,

What is that habit?

What would you like it to be?

Then see yourself being that way.

Thinking that way.

Feeling that way.

Talking that way.

Loving that way.

And then you are that way.

You are no longer that old way.

We're no longer damsels and distressed.

We're no longer victims or addicted to pain.

And we are no longer self-criticizing judges with no empathy or compassion.

We are what we want to be.

We are who we design to be.

Whoever we design ourselves to be is just right for this moment right now.

Because in a few moments that might change.

We will commit to only this moment.

In the name of Jesus Christ,

I thank you.

In the name of Jesus Christ,

I thank you.

Take a deep breath in through your nose.

Take a deep breath out through your mouth.

Inhale through the nose.

Exhale,

Sigh through the mouth.

Do this a few more times on your own.

Feeling the breath and taking your time whenever you're ready to come back.

Powerful. Cathartic. Liberating. I just love how you hold space for us to be accountable for our own healing and encourage us to face our shadows. I have never felt gratitude for feeling pain that rises up from the depths until I did your work. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you πŸ™πŸΌ

Very unique meditation. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the upbeat/trance techno music at first, but it actually grew on me. An unexpected way to start the day. I’m glad I stuck with it and gave it a chance rather than quickly switching to another.

I don’t see myself as a damsel in distress (maybe never) but this ended up being helpful in relieving stress. I just finished it and am so β€œemptied” from the event that words to describe it just escape me. Thank you so much for this unusual meditation.
