Music To start meditating,
We firstly start with relaxing the body and then moving from thinking to sensing.
Are you in a comfortable position?
You can lay,
Sit on the floor,
Cross-legged or on a chair.
Whatever position you choose,
Ask yourself Am I comfortable yet alert?
And can I hold this comfortably for 10 minutes?
Do you need to move slightly to support your position?
Now begin to notice your thoughts.
Not entangled in them,
But rather a fly on the wall approach to your thoughts.
Approaching them in a fluid and agile manner,
Rather than trying to manage or control.
I will pause to give you an opportunity to sit and observe your own thoughts.
Are your thoughts busy or quiet?
Erratic or systematic?
Do they have a strong emotion attached to them?
Watching without trying to change them,
Rather become more familiar with watching them as they are and not reacting.
We are wired to think and feel.
This is normal.
Now I invite you to move from thinking into sensing the music.
You can return back to the thinking at the end of the meditation,
But for the remainder of this practice,
Try to focus on listening.
Exploring what it means to be fully immersed and focused on one thing at a time.
You will get distracted throughout.
This is normal.
When this happens,
Gently return back to listening.
Opening yourself fully to the soundscape.
Listening like it was the first time,
The detail of the music.
Noticing when it starts and stops.
My guidance will pause for longer each time,
So you can really appreciate and delve into the detail of the music for yourself.
The only rule is that there are no rules.
Engage your curiosity and ignite playfulness while listening to this piece of music.
We are approaching the end of the meditation.
We are approaching the end of the meditation.
And to support your transition,
Slightly move your body.
Begin to stretch,
Yawn,
Wiggle,
Creating some sort of movement in your body.
And when you are ready,
Opening your eyes.
Well done.
You may have drifted off,
Gotten distracted,
Remained focused on the music,
And all of that is perfectly okay.
Each time you meditate,
Expect that it will be different again,
Rather than getting frustrated,
Wishing that you had done something different in the practice.
Focus on the feeling that you have right now.
Do you feel more relaxed?
Any other changes?
Developing your practice takes time and training.
