This poem speaks to the role of the mother and especially the aspect of letting go and allowing your children to follow their own path. As the mother continues to let go of the expectations, needs, and judgments of her children, she sees what is hers to heal. Please enjoy this short poem and let its words and resonance sink into your own way of being with your children.

I am the mother.

I am the mother.

So listen up,

Let me be clear.

You don't owe me anything.

You can't soothe my fear.

I am the mother.

You can't heal my heart.

It's not yours to fix.

This role not your part.

I am the mother.

My pain is my own.

My practice is inward.

I've created this home.

I am the mother.

I value your life.

Your future is yours.

You choose what is right.

I am the mother.

I will step back and allow.

I'm here to support you with great,

Perfect,

And wow.

I am the mother.

It's not necessary to be proud,

Not necessary to judge,

Or speak my undying love aloud.

I am the mother,

The unconditional giver,

The presence of always,

Pure radiant river.

I expect nothing.

I will sit by and wait.

This patience and grace,

It's alive and awake.
