So begin by finding a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down.
Let the body settle in the way that it wants to settle.
Before we go anywhere,
Let's simply notice the breath.
Not changing it,
Not improving it,
Just noticing it,
Feeling it.
Noticing the inhale arriving,
The exhale releasing.
Perhaps the breath feels shallow and perhaps it feels deep.
It doesn't matter,
Just let your awareness ride it gently,
Like a leaf on water.
And now begin to bring your awareness into your body.
Feel the weight of yourself.
Feel the temperature of your skin and the quiet hum beneath everything.
Feel the points of contact between you and the earth,
Your feet,
Your legs,
Your back,
Your hands.
And as you breathe,
Allow your awareness to begin traveling downwards,
Down to your base,
The base of your spine,
Maybe your feet.
And then allowing your awareness to slide even further through the floor beneath you,
Through the soil,
The rich,
Dark,
Living soil,
Through sand,
Through clay,
Dense and cool,
Through layers of rock,
Ancient and unmoving,
Through the underground streams and water flowing quietly in the dark,
And deeper still into crystal,
Into the luminous,
Structured intelligence of the earth.
Keep sinking deeper until you sense or imagine the warmth and the energetic heart of Mother Earth,
A pulsing core,
Alive,
Steady,
And endlessly giving.
And rest there for a few breaths.
And when you're ready,
Gather a thread of that energy.
Perhaps it appears as light,
Perhaps as color,
Maybe as warmth,
Or even something you don't really have words for.
And allow it to travel upward through crystal,
Through water,
Through rock,
Through clay,
Sand,
Through soil,
And up through roots that extend from the soles of your feet or the base of your spine,
And drawing that earth energy gently into your heart center.
And let it pool there.
Notice its quality.
Is it heavy or light?
Warm or cool?
Does it have a texture,
A color,
A shape?
Let it be exactly as it is.
Let it be.
And now gently shift your awareness upwards,
Up towards the crown of your head,
Into the space just above you,
Above your physical body,
Above the room,
Above the building,
Above the clouds,
Out beyond the atmosphere,
Floating in the vastness of space.
Notice the moon,
Quiet and reflective.
The sun,
Radiant and life-giving.
The stars,
Scattered like ancient memory across the dark.
The great field of the universe.
And somewhere within that vastness,
Perhaps everywhere,
Sense the expansive presence of Father Sky.
Limitless,
Connecting all things,
Inspiring movement and vision and possibility.
And rest here for a few breaths.
And when you're ready,
Gather a stream of that celestial energy,
Light,
Frequency,
Intelligence,
And allow it to pour down on you,
Like sparkles,
Through the stars,
Past the sun and the moon.
Through the atmosphere,
Through the sky,
And down through to the crown of your head.
Let it descend gently into your heart center.
And now in your heart,
Both energies are present.
Mother Earth,
Nurturing,
Fertile,
Steady.
Father Sky,
Expansive,
Illuminating,
And infinite.
And notice how they feel together.
Perhaps they swirl,
Perhaps they blend.
Maybe they simply rest side by side.
You do not need to make them merge.
Simply allow.
And the heart knows how to hold opposites.
Density and lightness,
Root and wing,
Matter and mystery.
And feel the quiet marriage of these energies within you.
And you're not separate from the Earth.
You are not separate from the stars.
You are the meeting place.
Let this union feel alive inside your chest.
Let it breathe,
Let it pulse.
And for a few moments,
Simply rest here,
Whole,
Grounded,
And infinite at the same time.
Begin to notice your physical body once again.
The surface beneath you.
The sounds around you.
And bring some movement back into your fingers,
Into your toes.
Move your body generously,
Satisfyingly.
Find a stretch,
A release,
A wholeness.
Open your heart.
And then,
Finally,
Gently,
Gently,
Open your eyes.
Carry with you the knowing that Earth and Sky live within your heart.
Om Shanti
