And today we're going to meditate on releasing trauma from the body using the chakras as a guide.
Now to be fair,
All meditation is releasing trauma at some level,
But today we're going to get a little bit more specific with it.
It's important to understand that trauma can take many forms.
So it can range from a physical trauma such as an accident,
Or emotional trauma that was a massive shock and super dramatic,
To something less dramatic that others may not perceive as a trauma,
Such as a thoughtless,
Cruel comment that stuck with you,
Being bullied,
Or being sidelined as a child by your parents.
Prolonged stress,
A toxic work environment,
Gaslighting,
Verbal abuse,
Are all traumas that are stored energetically within us.
This stored trauma can then lead to physical and emotional symptoms that can be difficult to understand and address.
It is important to recognize the signs of trauma within the body and using the chakras to understand where it is stored,
To recognize that trauma and then to release it in a safe and healthy way.
That is our aim here today.
There are several ways that you can sense trauma that's held in the body.
On a more subtle level,
It will be where you hold tension or your weak spots.
Other common physical symptoms of unresolved trauma can include chronic pain,
Tension headaches,
Digestive issues,
Fatigue,
And emotional symptoms can include anxiety,
Depression,
Feeling stuck,
Having difficulty in relationships,
And having difficulty expressing emotions.
It is important to pay attention to your body and listen to any physical or emotional sensations that may be linked to unresolved trauma.
So before we begin,
Let's find a comfortable seated position and gently close your eyes.
Bring your attention to your breath and take a few deep breaths,
Allowing yourself to settle into this present moment.
And as we travel through the chakras,
I would like you to place your hand on the area of the chakra.
Feel free to move it should you feel the trauma expressing itself in any way at all.
And this may be a tingle,
A pulse,
An itch.
It may be a zing.
It could be anything.
Simply connect with mental and physical awareness.
And this somatic approach allows a pathway for what is being held to release.
So as you focus on your breath,
Bring your awareness down into the first chakra located at the base of your spine.
So place your hand either right down in your root or at the base of your spine.
This chakra relates to our families and it also represents our connection to the physical world and our basic survival needs.
So feeling into this aspect,
These aspects of your life,
Continue to breathe deeply,
Purposefully.
And imagine any unresolved trauma or emotional pain stored in this chakra slowly beginning to release and dissolve.
Visualize this energy flowing out of your body with your breath,
Allowing you to feel more grounded and centered.
Now bring your awareness and your hand to the second chakra located just below the navel.
This chakra represents our emotional and sexual energy.
So connecting into this energy as you continue to breathe deeply.
Now imagine any unresolved trauma or emotional pain stored at this chakra slowly beginning to release and dissolve.
Slowly beginning to release and dissolve.
Visualize this energy flowing out of your body with your breath,
Allowing you to feel more emotionally balanced and open.
Simply notice,
Breathe,
Be in your body.
Now next bring your awareness up to the third chakra located at the solar plexus,
Just below your breastbone.
And this chakra represents your personal power,
Your self-esteem,
Your place in the world.
So sense into any unresolved trauma or emotional pain around these aspects of your energy.
Continue to breathe.
And as you release your breath,
Begin to release and allow this trauma to dissolve.
Visualize this energy flowing out of your body and in its place arrives confidence and empowerment.
Now bringing your awareness to the fourth chakra located in the heart center.
Place your hand across your heart.
This chakra is associated with the element of air,
So remember to keep an awareness of your breath.
This energy center represents our ability to love and be loved,
Our romantic life and our self-love.
And as you continue to breathe deeply,
Imagine any unresolved trauma or emotional pain stored in this chakra slowly beginning to release and dissolve.
Visualize this energy flowing out of your body,
Allowing you to feel more open and loving towards yourself and others.
And next bring your awareness into the fifth chakra located at your throat.
Bring your hands to your throat,
Your neck,
Your jaw.
Listen for the signs,
Listen,
Observe,
Notice.
This chakra is associated with the element of sound and represents our ability to communicate and express ourselves.
It holds our truth.
As you continue to breathe deeply,
Feeling that breath within your throat,
Imagine any unresolved trauma or emotional pain stored at this chakra slowly beginning to loosen,
To release,
To dissolve.
And visualize this energy flowing out of your body with the breath.
And as you inhale,
Breathing in confidence and the ability to express yourself freely,
To embrace the truth.
Now bring your awareness to your sixth chakra located at the third eye,
On your forehead,
In between your eyebrows.
You'll know when you place your hands there.
This chakra is associated with the element of light,
Of seeing,
Of our vision and represents our intuition,
Our ability to see beyond the physical world and connect with your inner wisdom.
So as you continue to breathe deeply,
Imagine any unresolved trauma or emotional pain stored in this chakra slowly and gently loosening and beginning to release and dissolve.
See with your inner eye this energy flowing out of your body,
Allowing you to feel more open and intuitive.
And finally,
Bring your awareness to the seventh chakra at the crown of the head.
This energy center is where you can feel the energy flowing out of your body.
It connects us with our thought and represents our connection to the wider world,
To the divine,
To our higher consciousness.
And here as you continue to breathe,
Feel into any unresolved trauma or emotional pain stored in this chakra and allow it to release and dissolve.
Visualize this energy flowing out of your body,
Allowing you to feel more connected to your higher self and to the divine.
Taking a few more deep breaths,
Beautiful big purposeful breaths,
Softly inhaling,
Gently exhaling.
As you exhale,
Visualize all of this released energy now flowing out of your body and into the earth.
As you exhale,
Visualize all of this released energy now flowing out of your body and into the earth,
Where it can be transformed and healed.
If you're feeling that you have a lot stored up,
Then feel free to blow it out through your mouth.
Let it out,
Let it go,
Let the earth take it.
And just allow yourself to sit in this feeling of release and healing for a few more moments.
Notice what came up for you.
This shows you where deeper work can be done.
Just having the awareness is enough to start you on this journey.
And taking your time,
When you feel ready,
Slowly open your eyes and just take a moment to ground yourself in the present moment.
