Hello and welcome,
I'm Roseanne,
Your host and guide.
So today we're going to use the beautiful ancient Polynesian meditation of Ho'oponopono.
The word Ho'oponopono translates as make things right or make things move back into balance.
It's a meditation that was used for reconciliation and forgiveness as it was believed that errors caused illness and there is deep truth in this.
When we make mistakes we beat ourselves up,
Our inner dialogue turns toxic and we find ourselves in a state of stress and our energy shifts from one of acceptance to non-acceptance of the self.
Our energy is out of balance and then dis-ease can follow.
In our practice today we're using Ho'oponopono to find freedom from the past,
Freedom from whatever it is that we use to torment ourselves.
When we practice this mantra we are using it to rectify an error in our thoughts and this error arises as thoughts that are caused by a painful memory from the past or a judgment,
Projection from anger,
From negative self-talk come up.
In other words we are clearing our karmic data.
When we practice Ho'oponopono we are not only cultivating mindfulness but also taking responsibility for all that we experience.
When we recognize that a thought is unhelpful,
Negative,
Judgmental and causing angst within us we can use this mantra to heal ourselves,
Others and the world around us and we do this by apologizing and asking for forgiveness from a place of love and we do this by sending this intention deep within to ourselves.
So let's begin sitting or lying in comfort.
Settle your body and gently close your eyelids.
Bring yourself within and feel into your body.
Notice if you need to adjust your position and find a peaceful situation.
Notice your soft natural breath.
Invite in a deeper breath now.
When you feel able begin to bring your breath so that there's an inhale to the count of five and an exhale to the count of five.
So we'll go together.
Inhale 2 3 4 5.
Exhale 2 3 4 5.
Inhale 2 3 4 5 and exhale 2 3 4 5.
Continue at a pace that works for you for another few breaths.
Feel as you breathe deeply you're bringing new energy,
New oxygen into your body with each inhale and with each exhalation you release toxins and tension.
Okay so now we're going to repeat the mantra for Ho'oponopono and it's four simple phrases.
I love you.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
Notice how this feels within your body.
Does it land in any particular location within you?
Does a person pop into your head?
Maybe a situation that has been challenging arises as you repeat this mantra.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.
Feel into the slight change in energy as we switch the order of the intentions.
Notice what is coming up for you.
Send the powerful intention of this mantra to the person,
To the situation,
To yourself.
Sense into the potential of this powerful mantra to transform negative elements into positive healing energy within you.
We're going to feel into each aspect of the mantra.
I'm sorry.
This expression of remorse is an acknowledgement of your part in creating negative situations or feelings,
Both within yourself and to others.
Please forgive me.
Here,
As you seek forgiveness,
It is not necessarily from others,
But also from yourself.
It is about releasing guilt and allowing yourself to move forward.
Thank you.
Expressing gratitude is essential in Ho'oponopono.
It's an acknowledgement of the lessons learned and the growth that comes from every experience,
Whether it is positive or negative.
I love you.
These words in the mantra are an affirmation of love,
The most powerful healing force.
Love here is unconditional,
For yourself,
For others involved and for the situation as a whole.
Allow the energy of these words to sink deep within you.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.
If it is comfortable to do so,
Place your hand over your heart and direct this mantra to yourself.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.
Take a few moments of silence to absorb the energy of Ho'oponopono.
When you feel ready,
Bring some gentle movement back to your body.
Notice what came up for you during this meditation.
Wrap your arms around yourself.
Give yourself a big hug.
And carefully open your eyes and bring yourself back into your space.
Amishanti.
Thank you so much for joining me.
I really hope that you can take the energy of Ho'oponopono into your day.
You know,
As a tool for life,
This mantra can be used on the move.
You don't need to be in a meditative space to use this.
When you've caught yourself in judgement or anger or frustration or caught up in your negative thought pattern,
Whatever that may be,
This simple mantra can really unwind that harmful thinking.
It is a fantastic tool that you really can use anytime.
And I enjoyed playing around with it.
Initially,
When I start doing Ho'oponopono,
I like to start off with I love you,
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
Thank you.
But once you feel the energy,
It begins to shift and you can go straight into the I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
Thank you,
And then finish with the I love you.
I think that either way,
It's powerful and these four phrases have such deep power.
So I hope that this is going to be a new tool that you can use at any time that you feel you need it.
Thank you.
Take care.
Bye now.
