This is just one minute on fill the hole in your heart.
And I want to explain what I mean with a personal story.
Growing up in a loving and decent environment,
A couple of things were missing.
They had to do with the fact that neither of my parents was very empathic.
And also,
Being a young,
Scrawny,
Nerdy kid who skipped a grade and was very young,
I had lots of experiences of being unseen and left out.
The absence of the good can be as consequential as the presence of the bad.
And as a result,
When I landed in young adulthood in college,
It felt like there was a really,
Really big hole in my heart.
And things began to change for me when I listened to the longing in my heart and didn't push it away and started turning toward recognizing the good facts around me that had to do with relationship experiences,
That had to do with natural,
Authentic moments of feeling included and seen and valued.
It was as if I had scurvy,
In a sense.
Something was missing and I needed to find my vitamin C.
And when I started taking that vitamin C,
It made all the difference in the world.
So here's my question for you.
What's your vitamin C?
What would have made all the difference in the world when you were younger or in a previous tough situation?
What does your heart long for today?
Or given the challenges that you're facing in your life,
What,
If it were more present in your mind,
Would really make a big difference?
And when you identify what that is to grow inside yourself,
Look for opportunities to experience it in everyday life.
And when you find those opportunities,
Don't waste them on your brain.
Bring a big spoon.
Really give to yourself that which you long for,
Which is often very much that which we most push away.
And over time,
As you have these experiences that are high value and really let them into yourself,
Bit by bit,
Stone by stone,
You'll be filling that hole.
So may you fill the hole in your heart.
