Just one minute on nourishing your brain.
It's kind of remarkable to appreciate that what is basically three pounds of tofu-like tissue inside the coconut and is only 2-3% of body weight actually uses up 20-25% of the metabolic supplies in your blood.
The reason is that the brain is always on working 24-7 on our behalf.
So it's using up a lot of those supplies and therefore they need to be replenished.
You Here are some major headlines.
On the foundation of a reasonably good,
Solid diet,
I've got a couple suggestions.
One,
Try to get protein with every meal.
Protein contains a lot of the amino acids that the brain needs.
Also,
Protein helps regulate blood sugar.
And as blood sugar rises and falls,
That's not good for the brain.
Speaking of blood sugar rising and falling,
Be careful about carbohydrates,
Especially sugar,
Even if you have a sweet tooth.
The other big suggestion I'd like to offer is to consider the fact that roughly 60% of the dry weight of the brain is essential fatty acids.
They are essential because we can't make them inside the body.
We need to consume them one way or another.
Flax oil contains a lot of essential fatty acids,
And in particular,
If you're comfortable consuming animal-based products,
A high-quality fish oil supplement with a good balance of nutrients inside is also a really sensible choice.
Thing for your brain.
And then last,
Very naturally,
Eating lots of colorful fruits and vegetables,
Such as beets or blueberries,
Is really good for your brain too.
So,
May you nourish your brain.
