This meditation is one of a series called Sleepy Adventures. The name of today’s sleepy adventure is called The Wisdom Of The Windscreen. You and I go on an adventure. It starts off by us both getting in a car and driving somewhere just for the fun of it. But there’s more. There’s something about the rain on the windscreen. A profound insight. Then we move into the realm where all things are possible. Consciousness is a mystery to all those who have studied it. Imagination is an incredible thing. Consciousness and imagination together can create miracles. Let’s drift away, into a restful and restorative night’s sleep.

Welcome to Sleepy Adventures.

My name is Ruben and here we are.

Today's Sleepy Adventure is called The Wisdom of the Windscreen.

Find your favorite sleeping position,

Allowing the surroundings of comfort and ease to gently envelope you.

The familiar friendly pull of gravity.

Noticing this pull from the earth.

Appreciating the fact that you chose this moment.

This moment for you and from you.

This is your time.

This is your space.

Moving into the space of imagination.

Into the realm where all good things happen.

Imagine a way.

For a year and a day.

It's such a lovely sunny spring day.

We walk outside to start our journey.

The weather is beautiful.

I am feeling so refreshed and awake.

Eager for what this journey will have in store for us.

Let's go for a drive.

I'm happy for you to be my guest.

Let's see where we end up.

Feel free to open the car door and get into the passenger seat.

Here we are,

About to go on an exciting adventure.

The car is unusually quiet.

Unusual in a nice way.

It's so calming as we roll off on our journey.

There's something magic about this journey.

It's as though the physical world as we know it is changing.

Take a look into the side mirror.

Can you see the trees fade away into the horizon?

Here comes the rain.

That gentle pitter patter of rain begins to form on the front windscreen.

No more than a few drops to start with.

I don't know about you but it's as though the raindrops are pulling my attention.

See what it's like to get familiar with the pattern of the rain which starts to run down the window.

There is something amazing about this experience.

With my attention on the rain on the windscreen,

I notice how it obscures what would be a beautiful view outside.

And when I purposefully decide to focus into the distance,

It requires me to focus through the rain on the windscreen to see the world unfolding before me.

What about you?

When I make a conscious effort to look through the rain on the windscreen again and focus on life unfolding outside of the car,

Then for a moment or two the rain ceases to exist.

Let's stop off for a moment,

Shall we?

Look at that for perfect timing.

There's a layby coming up.

Let's pull over here.

Let's stop and listen to the rain on the windscreen.

Look at that.

That lovely black cat crossing right over in front of us and over to your side.

That means good luck.

When I focus on the cat,

I can't see the rain on the windscreen because I'm looking at the cat.

Our thoughts are like rain on the windscreen.

When I focus upon one drop,

My eyes zoom in and the raindrop I'm looking at becomes my main focus of attention.

Then everything else is just a blur,

Seemingly insignificant.

Our thoughts are just like that.

We have thousands of thoughts a day.

When we focus upon them,

They take our attention and we are unable to see the present moment unfolding around us just as it is.

We can only see everything in the external world when we don't focus upon the rain on the windscreen.

This rain doesn't stop our experience of the world outside when we look through the raindrops to focus upon things on the outside.

There's something magic surrounding us now.

It's everywhere.

You can drift away for a year and a day.

You can go up there if you like.

You can float up there.

Anything is possible up there.

It's kind and spacious.

That's the only way that I can describe it.

All is well in this kind,

Loving and spacious place.

This space is always here for you.

A spacious place.

I feel content.

So I can sense that you are too.

Into the realm of imagination.

Moving into the realm.

Things good are possible.

My sleepy adventure.

What does it mean?

I drift off into a dream.

This space is here for me.

Am here for me.

My body heals in the softness of this moment.

My body is nourished in the softness of this moment.

It's restored in the softness of this moment.

I am fully at peace.

I am here for me.

My body.

My mind.

Nothing else matters.

But this time,

It's time for deep,

Restorative sleep from the depth of my core.

I know this to be true.

I am connected to the comfort that surrounds me.

I am connected to the stillness within me.

All is well in this kind,

Loving and spacious place.

Moving deeper into the realm of imagination.

Moving into the realm where all things good are possible.

My sleepy adventure.

What does it mean?

I drift off into a dream.
