Details
This 11-day meditation retreat is a journey into the heart of Japan’s Zen tradition during the enchanting cherry blossom season. The ambiance is one of serenity, simplicity, and deep cultural immersion, from meditating in centuries-old temples to walking mindfully beneath blooming sakura. We intend to guide participants beyond sightseeing into an authentic, lived experience of Zen and Japanese spiritual life. Through daily Zazen with Zen monks, private temple access, traditional tea ceremonies, and mindful walks through gardens and sacred sites, you will cultivate presence, clarity, and a renewed sense of peace. The retreat’s benefits include enhanced mindfulness, a deeper connection to self and nature, and a richer appreciation of Japanese culture and wabi-sabi aesthetics. You will also experience the restorative power of nature in mountain lodges, soak in mineral-rich onsen baths, and share community in quiet, contemplative settings. Unique features include exclusive temple stays, guidance from experienced teachers with long-standing ties to Japan, visits to iconic spiritual landmarks such as the Golden Pavilion, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Philosopher’s Path, and Zenkoji Temple, and the rare opportunity to witness Japan’s most beautiful season in places far from the tourist crowds.
