Details

The Mami Wata Surf and Yoga Retreat offers a soulful blend of ocean adventure and mindful restoration. Set against the raw beauty of Cape Town's West Coast, the ambiance is barefoot luxury, cosy wooden cabins, starry skies, and the rhythm of waves guiding each day. Our intent is simple: to create a safe, supportive space for women to reconnect with themselves, each other, and nature. Through surfing, yoga, breathwork, and shared circles, participants are invited to soften, play, and grow. The benefits go beyond physical practice - expect renewed energy, deeper self-awareness, confidence in the ocean, and a sense of belonging in a community of like-minded women. Unique features include surf coaching with video analysis, creative and land-based adventures like a coastal hike, nourishing seasonal meals, and an off-grid eco-setting that encourages true digital detox and presence.

Situated, quite literally, on the water’s edge, Sea Shack offers casual, self-catering holiday accommodation. Not camping and not a hotel, Sea Shack offers glamping-style holidays or weekend escapes where you can keep clean, warm, and live simply while you holiday, adventure, rest or relax away from home on one of the Cape’s more beautiful coastlines just ninety-five minutes’ drive out of the city of Cape Town. Powered by solar and gas, Sea Shack is off the grid and a proud participant of Eco lodging. While this may mean a hairdryer-free zone, there are power points enough for cell phone and laptop charging. Free Wi-fi also makes for a perfect working hideaway should you need it. The tiny wooden cabins have been beautifully crafted and designed. Whether you have the pleasure of staying in Oyster or the delight of Dolphin, this will be the beginning of a special memory. Gather around the fire-pit at night to cook and kuier.

Schedule

Over five days, the retreat flows with a rhythm of surfing, yoga, breathwork, and connection — balanced with plenty of time to rest and restore. Each morning begins with mindful practices such as sunrise yoga, breathwork, or meditation to set the tone for the day. Surf coaching and theory sessions follow, with opportunities for video analysis to deepen your skills in the water. Afternoons invite integration through nourishing meals, restorative yoga, creative activities, or land-based adventures like the West Coast Camino hike. Evenings are reserved for connection — from cacao ceremonies and journaling to fireside circles under the stars. The program is designed to be flexible and supportive, with all sessions optional, so you can listen to your body and choose rest when needed. By the end of the retreat, you’ll feel both grounded and uplifted — carrying the ocean’s energy, deeper self-awareness, and a sense of sisterhood with you.
