Details

Listen, Mo Chroí is a contemplative retreat inviting you to step out of the noise of digital life and return to presence, creativity, and deep listening. “Mo Chroí” is an Irish phrase meaning “my heart”—a tender form of address, spoken to what is most alive and true within us, and in our belonging to the world. Held in the Irish landscape at the threshold of the Autumn Equinox, this gathering is rooted in the understanding that when we change our relationship to attention, we change our relationship to ourselves, one another, and the living world. This retreat includes a 72-hour, facilitator-supported offline ceremony, creating spaciousness to rest the nervous system, rekindle creativity, and reconnect with what is most alive. Together, we will explore how patterns of attachment, technology use, and modern life shape our capacity for intimacy, imagination, and embodied presence. Drawing from psychology, attachment theory, somatic awareness, meditation, poetry, movement, ritual, and nature-based practices, the retreat creates a relational and restorative container where creativity and authenticity can re-emerge with fluidity. Ireland’s land, culture, and mythic imagination offer a powerful ground of foundation for this work. As the light and dark come into balance, we gather to listen inwardly—cultivating a freedom to be curious, connected, playful, and true. Inspired by Shannon's beloved 5-day retreats at the Esalen Institute and Kripalu Center, this immersive Irish experience is for those longing to live with greater depth, attention, and aliveness—and to remember what becomes possible when we go offline together.

The Common Knowledge Centre is a contemplative retreat and learning center rooted in community and relationship to land. For decades, it has hosted gatherings devoted to ecology, culture, spirituality, and the shared work of remembering how to live well together. It is situated in The Burren & Cliffs of Moher Global Geopark, just minutes from the Wild Atlantic Way, and close to the towns of Kilfenora, Ennistymon, and Doolin. Resting on 50 acres of native Irish forest and regenerative farmland, the Common Knowledge Centre was featured in Conde Nast's Best Places to Go in Europe in 2025 and the Irish Independent named it in the 50 Fab places to go in Ireland. Accommodation at the Common Knowledge Centre is thoughtfully designed for retreat life—rooted in simplicity and comfort. Rooms range from private singles and shared doubles to small dormitories, supporting both rest and community. The Cenre is set in the Irish countryside, offering quiet nights, fresh air, and a grounded, monastic feel. This beautiful, grounded retreat land supports deep rest, presence, and meaningful connection—ideal for an intentional, offline retreat.

Our delightful Irish chef will be cooking up two to three seasonally-inspired meals per day in the gorgeous dining room of the Lodge. On one evening, we will venture to the small, charming seaside town in Doolin where we will enjoy dinner out after soaking in the Wild Atlantic Seaweed Baths overlooking the ocean, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Aran Islands. Followed by an Irish singing trad session at the local pub, of course.

Schedule

Each day offers a morning practice of meditation and embodiment, teaching presentations, and experiential relational exercises. Afternoons hold plenty of spaciousness for creativity, solitude, reflection, side quests, hiking the land, and/or connection with fellow participants. Our afternoon/evening sessions includes singing, poetry writing, silent walking with the wild, campfire-style storytelling, and Yoga Nidra practices. Arrivals begin between 12-2pm on Monday, September 21. We officially begin our 72-hour offline ceremony on Tuesday, September 22 around 1pm. Departures begin on Friday, September 21 after lunch (around 1pm).

Testimonials

info

Shannon was an unbelievable guide. He was a pleasure to be learning from. He made everyone feel comfortable and at ease. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone who has a cell phone. The workshops was so fun, interactive, so many connections and lots of creativity. Content was absorbed easily.

Workshop Participant, Esalen Institute, United States

Shannon was AMAZING! Perhaps the best workshop I've had at Esalen. The group was intimate and we were really able to connect. Shannon was the perfect blend of: information/ research, heart, empathy, music, and creativity. When people have asked what I liked best this time...it was being in group led by Shannon.

Anon. Workshop Participant, USA

Shannon was able to bring in so many threads: the academic/data-based information, but mixed with movement, song, poetry, meditation, nature walks, and storytelling. All of this was delivered with warmth, kindness, depth, and humor. I also appreciated the small size of the group and intimate container we created together. Shannon was very skilled at making us all feel safe and at-home. . . so we could drop in more deeply. PLEASE bring Shannon back for more!

Retreat Participant, Esalen Institute (Anonymous), USA

Shannon (the lead facilitator) was brilliant, accessible, playful, and engaging, and his practices were inspiring, well-paced and fun. The group cohered in an organic way that showed the combination of Shannon's depth, emotional attunement and natural leadership skills. We laughed and cried a lot.
