Details

Trade city noise for ocean wind, salt air, and the rhythm of your own footsteps. This five-day guided thru-hike follows the iconic 42-mile Trans-Catalina Trail across the rugged spine of Catalina Island, just off the Southern California coast. Each day brings cliffside singletrack, sweeping Pacific vistas, quiet coves, and encounters with the island's roaming bison — then ends with beachfront camping where you fall asleep to the sound of waves. You carry only a daypack while we handle your tent, gear, and between-camp transport, so your body can focus on the trail. Chef-prepared meals, daily yoga to restore tired legs, and evenings around camp build a steady rhythm of effort and recovery. All trips are led by certified Wilderness First Responder guides with deep knowledge of Catalina's terrain, weather, and wildlife. Our community is sober and substance-free — a space to unplug, reset, and connect without distraction. Whether you're a seasoned backpacker or stepping into your first thru-hike, this retreat is designed to meet you where you are. You'll leave with stronger legs, a clearer mind, and a circle of trailmates who understand the kind of reset only wild places can give.

Schedule

This five-day hiking and yoga retreat on Catalina Island combines scenic trekking, camping, nourishing meals, and daily movement practices. The journey begins with a ferry ride to Avalon followed by a challenging 10.7-mile hike to Blackjack Campground, with packed lunch provided and an evening yoga stretch session before dinner prepared by Chef Zach. Over the following days, participants hike between campgrounds across diverse island terrain, including routes from Blackjack to Little Harbor, Little Harbor to Parson’s Landing, and finally back to Two Harbors, covering between 7 and 13 miles per day. Each morning begins with breakfast, breaking camp, and a warmup circle before hiking, while evenings include restorative yoga and group dinners. Lunches are generally self-guided, with opportunities to purchase food in towns along the route. The retreat concludes with a relaxed final morning in Two Harbors, offering free time for swimming, stretching, kayaking, or paddleboarding before the ferry returns to San Pedro.

I LOVED this retreat ! The Catalina 9 ! The perfect mixture of challenge, acceptance, healthy food, yoga, adventure and a combination of experiences to replenish my body, mind and spirit !

This hike was a ton of fun. It was an absolute challenge and I felt like I got a warrior badge and 10 new friends when I was done!! The best thing was a sense of accomplishment by finishing the journey, (and feeling gritty and strong) but it was also the most bittersweet because that meant our time together was coming to an end. And as usual, sleeping by the ocean having just had a delicious meal from Zach — it’s pretty much the top of the world in experiences. 🌍

Leslie, USA

BLA are down to earth, real people where you feel free to be yourself, and I’ve never felt I had to be great at yoga or the most athletic to do any of the adventures.
