One of the common difficulties when there is more challenge or crisis is winding down to rest or sleep at the end of the day.
And working with restlessness is familiar to many people in the best of times,
Let alone when things get more challenging.
It could be that someone in your family or a friend is not well and you are unable to visit them.
As you start to rest,
Your mind plays out scenarios about what could happen.
Or maybe you are resting in a place where you could be interrupted or that you do not feel physically safe.
It could also be that you wake up at 3 in the morning and even though you know that sleep would be a good thing,
Your mind starts to strategize on work problems or replay a conflict with a co-worker.
Sleep plays a vital role in the function and recovery of all physiological systems,
Including the immune system.
And it also supports our overall health,
And a lack of sleep can contribute to anxiety and depression.
Difficulties in being able to rest or sleep are a common response to a challenge or crisis.
How can you help to support yourself by getting better rest?
