Hello,
My name is Simon Moyes and this is a practice on finding calm.
Let's start by finding a posture where there is more comfort.
It could be sitting,
Standing,
Walking or lying down.
And if you're already sitting or lying down,
Move a little bit to find more ease.
And as we begin,
Allow the eyes to look down at about 45 degrees with a soft focus,
Or fully close if you'd like.
Now see what it's like to bring to mind a place where you feel calm.
It could be somewhere that you know,
Like a room that you love.
Something maybe somewhere in nature.
And it could also be an imaginary place where you feel safe,
Calm and protected.
What is that place for you?
And picture it in your mind.
Imagine it using all of your senses,
Noticing sounds,
Smells,
Tastes and colours.
And notice what about this place allows it to be calming.
Pay attention to how it feels to be in this place that is protected and safe.
Notice how your body can relax in this calm place.
And how nourishing it is to feel the simplicity of it.
How do you feel in this place as you experience the calmness?
And notice any feelings of security here that are always available at a moment's notice.
Allow yourself to settle into this feeling.
And as you do this,
Note in your body where you feel warm and relaxed.
In a moment we're going to move away from this image.
And let's take two more slow breaths here.
Soaking in what it's like to be in this calm place.
And knowing that this place is available for you to return to at any point,
Take a deep breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Letting go of that image and noticing your body in contact with the ground.
And if your eyes are closed,
Gently opening them and allowing yourself to take in the place that you're in right now.
And you might want to move your shoulders or stretch a little bit.
And remember,
Any time you experience the need to feel secure and calm,
You can return to your safe space at a moment's notice.
If possible,
Take a moment to pause before continuing with your day.
Thank you for taking part in this practice of finding calm.
