Make Bezos Better Hello and welcome to our fifth and final session of the series.
And today we're going to be looking at how you are wiser than you think.
So let's begin by opening our three presents together.
You're an expert at this by now.
So just close your eyes.
Make sure you're sitting comfortably.
Follow my voice.
Let's open our first present.
Exhale all of the air out of your lungs.
And when you're ready,
Take a nice long breath in with a count of 1,
2,
3.
And just hold it for 1,
2,
3.
And a long exhale 1,
2,
3.
And again,
Breathing in 1,
2,
3.
Holding 1,
2,
3.
And breathing out 1,
2,
3.
Brilliant.
Really well done.
Now let's open our second present by becoming very,
Very still.
Let's focus on your physical body.
It's the only thing that is always in the present moment,
As you know.
So just be here breathing in your body,
Completely still in the room that you are in.
Now let's open our third present.
And today we're going to use our sense of taste.
So I want you to bring your entire focus now to your mouth and the taste that is in your mouth at the moment.
Now you don't have to be able to name it or label it.
Maybe it is simply the taste of your mouth,
Nothing else.
All we're doing is noticing.
And notice too that when we focus on our sense of taste,
Our tongue starts to move and we swallow as if getting ready to eat something.
So just be here now,
Breathing,
Sitting still and tasting.
Welcome to the moment with the power of now.
And when you're ready,
Just open your eyes and bring your attention back to my voice.
You've done some incredible work in these sessions.
You've thought about your qualities,
Talents,
And skills,
And you've made a list of the things that you love and you've done some amazing things.
And you've made a list of the things that you like about yourself,
A list that will keep growing as you grow.
You've been able to think about a time of listening with kindness and how that felt.
You've understood that mistakes can be the doorways into new opportunities,
New experiences,
And new possibilities.
And you've considered the awesome power of the words that we use,
The words that we hear,
And you've begun to practice transforming the words that you use about yourself.
And that's a lot in a few days.
And what is more incredible is that all of this came from you.
All I have done in guiding you is point to things that already exist in you,
Experiences that you have had,
The skills that you have.
You are much wiser,
Much more talented,
Much kinder,
And more inspirational than you think.
And for our final writing exercise,
I want you to write a short letter to your younger self,
Giving yourself the advice,
Encouragement,
And inspiration that you would love to have heard maybe a year or two years ago.
You might want to start your letter to your younger self by listing the top three things that you like about yourself,
Maybe explaining what a good listener you are.
Maybe you might mention a mistake that you made a few years ago that turned out to be something good.
And you could finish with some powerfully kind words of encouragement.
So today I'm going to give you a minute and a half to write your letter,
So I'll be back for you when the time is up.
So so so Fantastic.
Well done.
Remember,
As with all of the writing exercises in the series,
You can always go back to them and add things that occur to you.
Now,
The reason that I wanted you to write to your younger self is so that you can feel your own wisdom and understand how valuable your experience and kindness would be to anyone a little younger than you.
Because you are wiser than you think,
You have the potential to influence and lead people around you,
To inspire them to be the best version of themselves.
And I want to leave you with this wonderful quote from the futurist Buckminster Fuller.
Never forget that you are one of a kind.
Never forget that if there weren't any need for you in all your uniqueness to be on this earth,
You wouldn't be here in the first place.
And never forget,
No matter how overwhelming life's challenges and problems seem to be,
That one person can make a difference in the world.
In fact,
It is always because of one person that all the changes that matter in the world come about.
So be that person.
Thank you so much for listening.
We really hope that you enjoyed this series and that you have learnt something new about who you are and who you could become.
Thank you.
