Hi and welcome to this gratitude meditation.
Come into a comfortable position,
Either seated or laying down.
Allow the body to relax.
Allow your shoulders to drop away from your ears and allow your body to settle into the surface beneath you.
If it feels comfortable for you,
Let your eyes gently close or you can choose to softly rest your gaze on a spot on the floor in front of you.
Just begin to bring your awareness to your breath,
Breathing naturally here.
Simply notice the natural rhythm and flow of your breathing as you inhale and exhale.
Allow the breath to be natural,
Easy,
And relaxed.
As you breathe,
Appreciate the life offered from each inhalation.
And with the exhalation,
Let go of any tension in the mind or the body.
Feel your muscles relax and in this safe,
Relaxed state,
Begin to reflect on all of the things that you're grateful for.
It could be loved ones,
A delicious meal that you've had,
The breath in your lungs,
Or even something as simple as a compliment from a coworker or friend.
Whatever comes to mind,
There's no right or wrong.
Picture the person or the people that you're grateful for standing in front of you and tell them how grateful you are for them and why.
If you're having a difficult time coming up with things to be grateful for,
Ask God or whatever higher power you believe in or the highest part of yourself to reveal these things to you and just allow the feeling of deep gratitude to come into your body.
And as you breathe here,
See if you can allow this feeling to expand as you reflect on everything that you're grateful for.
Savoring this feeling that gratitude gives you and feeling it wash away your tension and negativity.
Breathing in stillness for a few minutes each day is a powerful way to grow appreciative joy in our lives.
It can be helpful in reframing difficult situations and helps to detach us from a victim mindset.
With a relaxed body and calm mind,
It's easier to let gratitude in.
Simply continue to breathe slowly and deeply,
Letting this appreciative joy envelop you,
Helping you to feel comfortable,
Relaxed,
And grateful.
As we come to the end of this gratitude meditation,
Repeat the following affirmations silently to yourself.
Thank you for the many blessings I have received.
May these blessings multiply as I continue to notice and give thanks for them.
Now begin to bring your awareness back to the space around you.
Perhaps bring some movement to the body by wiggling your fingers and toes.
And when you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
Bring this feeling of gratitude with you as you go throughout your day and know that I'm deeply grateful for you,
My friend.
Thank you for joining me in this practice today.
Have a wonderful day.
Namaste.
