Good morning and welcome to this Christian morning meditation practice where you'll cultivate a sense of peace,
Gratitude,
And meaning to start your day.
This practice will help you start your day off on the right foot by using Psalm 118,
Verse 24 as an affirmation and ending with a prayer that aligns our thoughts with God's love for us.
Whether you just woke up and you're still lying in bed or if you've been up for a bit,
Please come into a comfortable position,
Sitting tall with your spine as straight as possible.
Rest your hands on your knees or thighs and when you're ready,
Gently close your eyes and begin to bring your awareness to your breath.
Breathe naturally here and as you inhale and exhale,
Simply observe each breath as it flows through the body.
Perhaps noticing the rise and fall of the chest and belly or the sensation of air at your nostrils.
Continue to breathe naturally as you take this time to allow stillness to revitalize your mind and body.
Now,
We'll begin to repeat the following verse either out loud or silently in your head as our affirmation for today.
This is the day that the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
It can be helpful to sync the verse with your breath as you meditate on it.
Breathing in,
This is the day.
Breathing out,
That the Lord has made.
Breathing in,
Let us rejoice and breathing out and be glad in it.
If thoughts begin to arise,
This isn't a problem.
Simply notice them without judgment.
Letting any thoughts about yesterday or the past in general to fall away.
And calming any worries or anxiety about the day ahead as you continue to repeat this psalm as you breathe slowly and deeply.
This is the day that the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
When we meditate on this piece of scripture,
We're affirming that our God is a God of infinite possibility.
It affirms that he created this new day,
Which is filled with endless opportunities for renewal and joy.
When we meditate and pray,
We align our minds with God's power and love for us.
Our nervous system takes on a peaceful state where our stressful and anxious thoughts are replaced by peaceful ones.
This is a wonderful way to start each day.
Now we'll end this practice with a prayer,
Placing our lives,
Our minds and our day in the hands of God.
Heavenly Father,
I give this day to you and give you thanks and praise for every blessing.
In your hands,
I place my dreams,
My hopes,
My questions and my burdens.
I surrender to you my fears,
My failures and my shame.
I know that I am your child and that you have a plan for me today and every day.
I'm willing in all ways to be the person you would have me be.
And I'm willing to be shown where I need to improve.
I ask that you would bless me so that I may be a blessing to others and that you would use me to do your good works in service to humanity.
I pray for my brothers and sisters.
May our minds be healed.
May we all be blessed.
May we find our way home to you.
From pain to peace.
And from fear to love.
May your love be our happiness and peace in every single moment of this day.
Amen.
Now,
Gently begin to bring some movement to your body.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes and embrace this beautiful new day that the Lord has made.
Thank you for joining me in this meditation and prayer practice.
Have a blessed day.
