Hello,
It's Pasha Lindy here with a guided practice called receiving from the earth.
And this practice is best done lying down where it can feel quite luxurious and restorative,
As well as deepening the connection between the earth and ourselves.
It also works quite well if we're sitting,
Standing,
Walking or hiking.
So you can just choose to follow whichever instructions are appropriate for you.
And whatever posture we find ourselves in,
Let's take a moment to get really comfortable.
Really feeling that contact with the earth,
Those touch points.
The places perhaps where the feet touch the floor.
Maybe the legs and hips too if we're lying or sitting down.
Maybe also the back and the shoulders.
So really feeling any points of contact with the earth.
And allowing the muscles in the body to sink down towards the ground or into the ground a little bit more deeply each time.
Exhaling and letting go a little bit more.
The arms and hands.
Even the muscles in the face.
Letting them all grow heavy and sink down towards the ground.
Yes there she is.
The earth.
Exhaling us.
So letting go in the neck,
The back of the head.
And scanning through the body for a few minutes and noticing any places where we're still holding on to tension.
And inviting some softening and letting go there,
Especially on the out breath.
Giving our weight to the earth a little bit more each time.
And as we melt into the ground,
Tuning in to that sense of being supported,
Being held by the earth.
As our skeleton rests on the earth,
All of those bones and joints,
All of the spinal vertebra,
All stacked so cleverly one on the other,
Supporting our weight as our body also reaches up towards the sky.
So as best we can,
Allowing our bones to soak in that sense of support and of letting all the muscles be heavy around that.
Noticing how our feet are held and supported by the earth.
Noticing how our legs and hips feel supported too.
The back,
The shoulders,
The arms and hands all supported.
The muscles in the neck and the back of the head,
Feeling supported by the earth and the spine.
And as best we can,
Soaking in those feelings of being supported.
We don't need to do anything for the next 20 minutes other than be held.
So as well as sensing the solidity of the body and the heaviness of the muscles and the contact with the ground,
There's also this sense of relationship.
The earth is supporting us as a being.
And some of us might even feel the heart opening.
Perhaps a sense of being loved by the earth.
We don't have to strive for those feelings.
Whatever is arising naturally is absolutely fine.
And inviting the attention now to find the movements of breathing in the body.
And letting the attention rest there on that rising and falling.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Breathing out.
Breathing out.
From time to time the mind will wander off and that's okay.
When we notice inviting the attention to come back to resting with the breathing.
And it might help us to tune into a sense of receiving here.
Because every in breath is a gift.
Breathing oxygen.
And every out breath is a time to release.
Let go and a gift back to the earth from us.
Let go of carbon dioxide.
Let go of carbon dioxide.
Let go of carbon dioxide.
Let go of carbon dioxide.
Let go of carbon dioxide.
We need do nothing to receive the breath.
Nothing at all.
The air and the body take care of all of it.
They're completely supported and we can just rest in that and enjoy.
And we're allowed to enjoy any pleasure that might arise as we inhale and exhale.
Or any feelings of warmth that might arise in the heart.
Let go of carbon dioxide.
We're now opening up our awareness to include sounds we can hear coming and going.
We're receiving sounds.
Some soft,
Some far,
Some near.
Some quiet sounds.
And we might also want to keep our eyes open if they've been closed and receive sights.
Just allowing our gaze to move to wherever it's naturally called.
And receive those shapes and colours and textures and patterns.
Thank you.
