Here's a short mindfulness practice designed to help us let go of thinking and really enjoy the present moment.
First,
Finding a comfortable sitting,
Standing,
Or lying position.
Closing your eyes or leaving your eyes open with a soft gaze and taking a nice long deep breath and then allowing the breath to settle into its own natural rhythm.
Just allowing the body to breathe itself and lightly resting our attention on each in-breath and out-breath,
Relaxing into feeling these sensations,
Enjoying the movements of breathing,
The rising,
Falling,
And rising.
Enjoying breathing just in a light gentle way.
No need to breathe intensely or change the breathing.
And when we get lost in thoughts,
At some point we'll wake up,
We can breathe out,
Let go,
And relax again into enjoying the experience of breathing.
And if you wish,
You can continue perhaps taking time throughout your day to notice the breathing and enjoy it.
And enjoy it.
