Hi,
This is Padma Gordon and I want to welcome you to Living From the Heart.
And today's meditation is on wonder.
How do you keep wonder alive in your heart?
How do you stay in awe of the fact that you are alive?
It can be so easy for us to get disenchanted,
To become dissatisfied with our lives the way they are.
To start to take things for granted and I find that intending to live in wonder can be very helpful.
So with that,
I invite you to close your eyes.
Let your body settle.
Relax any places where you might be holding tension.
Breathe.
Enjoy your generous breath.
And notice how it is indeed a wonder that your breath continues to rise and fall to nourish your body.
So just feel the wonder of the breath,
Your breath my friend,
As it nourishes and feeds your body.
Just notice.
Breathing in to the wonder of your own breath,
How simple it is and how consistent it is.
It makes no difference whether it's shallow or deep,
Quick or slow.
Your breath is your constant companion.
What a wonder is this?
Feeling wonder and awe for your life,
Beginning with your breath.
Just noticing what happens when you feel wonder,
Awe and maybe even gratitude for this breath.
And what a wonder it is that we are here together right now,
Together meditating in community,
Collectively turning our attention toward wonder.
And isn't it a wonder that the sun rises up in the sky each morning?
And the wonder of the moon,
Her silvery light glistening.
And I know that when my feet walk upon the earth and I see plants growing,
I am in wonder that something that was once a seed is now so tall,
Green and radiantly beautiful.
What is it for you that elicits wonder?
Maybe it's the sound of music or laughter.
Perhaps it's the glory of a hard rain or the waves crashing upon the shore.
The wonder of walking on the beach and feeling the soft sand between your toes.
The smoothness of the rocks that have been pummeled by the ocean thousands of times.
The wonder that we humans get to walk this earth,
To dance and sing,
To express ourselves through creativity.
So sweet friend,
If you ever find yourself feeling the whole hummus of life,
Sing a song,
Let your body move.
Pick up a pen and begin to write.
Fill out your paints,
Play with color.
For creativity opens us to the divine.
Feel how you are a channel for the divine to flow through.
Yes,
You are.
Living in wonder,
Living in wonder,
This is my invitation for you,
For us all to live in wonder and feel the pulse of the divine coursing through our veins.
So live in wonder.
Live in wonder.
