Hello and welcome to this emergency calm meditation.
My name is Juana and I am honored to serve you.
Begin by finding yourself a space where you feel safe and relaxed.
Ensure you are seated or laying in a position that allows for a straight spine.
Once you've found your sweet spot,
Close your eyes and just sit for a moment or two and notice what is present within you,
Without pushing it away or making it or yourself wrong.
Nothing is wrong here,
All is welcome.
Observe what is occurring within you like you are watching fish swimming by in a large aquarium.
You don't try and grab at the fish.
Similarly,
Don't try and cling to your thoughts,
Feelings and emotions.
Simply watch them come and go.
What do you notice your mind saying?
What do you feel in your body?
What emotions are coming to the surface?
Now notice who is experiencing all of this.
Who is noticing your mind,
Your feelings and emotions?
Yes of course,
It's you who is noticing,
But which you?
The mind which is overloaded with mental chatter or the awareness that is aware that your mind is running a mile a minute?
If you guessed the awareness,
You are correct.
And if you are indeed the one noticing your mind,
Then perhaps you may consider that you are not your mental commotion,
But rather you are the consciousness that is witnessing it in the same way you aren't those fish swimming in the tank,
You are simply the one watching them go by.
As Pema Chodron says,
You are the sky,
Everything else is just the weather.
Your thoughts,
Feelings and emotions are merely the clouds passing by.
Your awareness on the other hand,
Is the sky that holds space for all of them to come and go.
So imagine your mind being the sky and the power of your breath out as the wind that pushes these clouds,
These thoughts away.
Use the intermittent sound of the wind and exhale as a friendly reminder to blow these thoughts away.
I will leave you to it and check back in.
Sometimes,
When we are in the midst of strong negative emotion,
We are tempted to let go of our emotions.
We become our anger,
We entangle ourselves in our stress,
We somehow turn into our anxiety.
We become one with our emotions.
But when we take a step back and bring our awareness to our seat of consciousness,
We realize we aren't our anger,
Stress,
Anxiety or any emotion for that matter.
We are the one witnessing it.
And in that separation between our small monkey mind-self and our higher seat of consciousness,
We find freedom and peace.
We realize we are bigger than any negative emotion that comes our way.
In doing so,
We don't let it overpower us.
And from that space of calm and centeredness,
We are inspired to the right next step to take as opposed to acting out prematurely in a way that does not serve us or those around us.
So take a few deep calming breaths to help connect you with who you truly are.
And by doing so,
Perhaps even inviting any inspiration or realizations to come through.
And that concludes the end of our emergency calm meditation.
Thank you for entrusting me with both your time and energy.
I hope this meditation has been of great value to you.
As always,
Let me know how your meditation went and follow along for more to come.
