Hello,
Dear heart.
Welcome to this medicine meditation.
My name is Dielle and I'll be guiding you.
For this meditation,
You may lie on your back on the floor or bed or be comfortably seated with your hands in your lap.
However you choose to position yourself,
Find a level of comfort that will support you in being still for these few minutes.
What is medicine?
We tend to think of medicine as something the doctor prescribes that we take to either cope with health symptoms or to eradicate them completely.
But there are lots of different kinds of medicine that have nothing to do with a doctor's visit.
We could consider anything that helps eliminate uncomfortable physical or even mental,
Emotional or spiritual dis-ease as a medicine.
Things like sleep,
Nourishing food,
Sunlight and exercise.
In some traditions,
Singing and dancing are considered medicine.
In others,
Plants and animals are considered medicinal.
In today's meditation,
We'll be working with a medicine you carry in your very own body,
The blood.
To begin,
Let's take three sniffs in through the nose as we gently lift the shoulders up towards the ears with each sniff.
We'll hold the breath and squeeze the shoulders,
Then exhale forcefully through the mouth as we release the shoulders.
Breathing in,
Three sniffs.
Hold the breath and squeeze,
Bringing the shoulders toward the ears and release.
Let's repeat,
Three sniffs in.
Squeeze the shoulders,
Hold the breath and release the breath and shoulders.
One more time,
Breathing in,
Three sniffs.
Squeeze and hold and release.
Blood is what carries nourishing oxygen to all the body's organs and tissues.
And this happens without any planning,
Organizing or managing on our part.
The body is an amazing,
Intelligent organism.
Given the opportunity,
It will contribute greatly to its own health and well-being,
Rebalancing and restoring itself from all the challenges we place upon it.
So let's step out of the way now and bring our observational eye to the elixir of life,
The blood.
Feel as it flows out of the heart,
Traveling down arms,
Traveling through the legs,
All around the brain,
The eyes,
Through the throat and chest.
To and out of the lungs,
To the liver,
The stomach,
Spleen.
Kidneys,
Adrenals and all the glands.
Small and large intestines.
The reproductive organs.
The medicine of the blood flows into every nook and cranny,
Giving healing attention to every part of you,
Carrying with it nourishing elements,
Then carrying away toxins and disease as it rushes away.
A constant revitalizing and recharging loop of love and care.
You may now take a slow deep breath.
Open your eyes gently and acknowledge any changes to your state of mind and being.
Emerge feeling nourished,
Re-energized,
Vitalized and strong with gratitude to your miraculous heart.
That concludes this meditation.
