A short but very powerful practice to ground ourselves to the present, right here right now. Useful when we might feel like we need a check in with the self. This moment is a gift that's why they call it present. Let's all try to relish these moments together right now.

Welcome everyone to a short five minute session you can use at any time during your day to get some perspective on your present moment.

This has been a very powerful tool for me in my day to day experiences and I use it whenever I need a breathing space or some clarity or even just to appreciate this moment deeply.

I hope you enjoy the power of the present right here,

Right now with yourself.

And in a comfortable place to sit,

Stand or maybe even lie down somewhere quiet and without distractions if possible.

Now look around you,

Take in all that is around you,

What's happening around you presently,

The lights,

The shadows,

The sounds,

Take it all in.

Closing your eyes now if it's okay.

Bring about a half smile,

It always helps.

Now you are ready,

Start paying attention to your breath.

How is it for you today?

Is it very shallow or is it very deep?

Is it rhythmic or uneven?

Are you feeling the breath in any part of your body?

Maybe the nose,

Maybe in your stomach,

Maybe on the chest?

Where you feel it most vivid,

Try to be present for your breath there.

As a kind friend of yours would do for you,

Be that friend to your breath.

Invite it,

Observe it,

Experience it with gentle curiosity.

Does that feel good,

Bad,

Neutral?

Just observe.

Be present to the sensations of the breath in your body,

Coolness of the in-breath perhaps,

The warmth of the out-breath,

Maybe the rise and fall of each breath in your body.

If possible,

Try to remain with an open heart to your breath.

You are now being present to your breath right here,

Right now.

All other thoughts and feelings can wait.

Right now we are present right here with our breath.

This is something wonderful and marvelous.

When you are ready,

You can slowly open your eyes now and engage with the world again with this open,

Curious mind.

Thank you.

Have a great day.

A gentle check in with the breath, helping me to ground in the present moment. I found it supportive and grounding and I will bring it into my daily life, to alleviate moments of detachment and stress. Many thanks Nikhil.
