Will Meecham, MD

Will Meecham, MD, is a former surgeon, accidental mystic, longterm meditator, and a survivor of severe childhood trauma. Since 2010, he has been teaching biology-based mindfulness. He offers classes at College of Marin and elsewhere, including in programs for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, and somatic psychotherapists. Prior to medical training, he completed undergraduate education in zoology and ecology, followed by graduate work in biophysics and neuroscience. After leaving his surgical practice because of spine problems, he took up mind-body practices to reduce pain recover and manage the stress of career loss. He worked in environmental health and practiced acupuncture before developing his teachings, which use biology and breathing to increase body awareness and appreciation. His offerings draw on decades of spiritual exploration, including sustained periods of practice/worship in Quaker, Catholic, Theravada Buddhist, Raja Yoga, and Non-Dual traditions. Will's meditations cultivate embodied experiences of awe, love, and wholeness.
