How are you?
No,
How are you really?
There's a lot going on,
There's always a lot going on and there are distractions everywhere we're glued to our phones,
Constant distraction designed to suck our attention we've got jobs,
Responsibilities to-do lists,
Always things to do and so when people ask us,
As they often do,
How are you?
We come out with stock phrases yep,
I'm fine,
Absolutely fine,
Everything's great,
How are you?
Well yeah,
Yeah,
A bit tired actually,
But yep,
Everything's great,
How are you?
There's no depth,
And there doesn't necessarily need to be because these tend to be casual social interactions but we do,
I think,
Need to check in with ourselves regularly and ask ourselves,
How are you really?
I think it's important for growth,
For learning,
For reflection so we can either do that using something like a journal or talking to trusted friends,
Someone that you feel really comfortable with or we can explore it in practice,
Which is what we're going to do today so I'm going to keep this really simple let's settle in,
Make yourself comfortable,
I don't mind what position you're in feel the weight of your body against the surface you're resting on supported,
Safe,
Loved,
Alive and take a few deep breaths in through the nose and then slowly out through the mouth relaxing letting go letting go scanning the attention,
The awareness around the body how does the body feel right now?
How does it really feel?
Connecting noticing safe alive how are you really?
I'm going to give you some time to rest and see what comes up coming back to the question,
When your mind wanders life is complex and different things can be true at the same time you can be anxious and grateful you can be hopeful and feel like something's a bit of a challenge how are you really?
You might like to focus on one area of your life at a time so health,
Finance,
Relationships for example or you might like to sit,
Lie,
Rest and see what comes up for you how are you really?
And if anything challenging comes up allow it to come up maybe take one hand in the other maybe put a hand on your belly or on your heart show yourself acceptance and support you can be honest with yourself this isn't a standard response for polite society how are you really?
May you be well may you be happy may you live with ease may you be open to accepting how you really feel and may you know that you are loved and when you're ready,
Very gently coming back to the space around you in your own way and in your own time and thank you so much for practicing with me today I'm incredibly grateful as always
