Let's sit together and reflect on the past year.
You're not the same person you were this time last year.
Life with its blessings and lessons,
With its highs and lows,
Highlights and challenges and everything in between.
It changes all of us all the time.
Let's sit together.
Come into the here and now.
Reflect a little.
Take stock.
Give thanks.
And then think about who we're growing into.
Because if change is the only constant,
Then growth,
New shoots,
Are always possible.
Finding a comfortable position.
And start by taking three deep breaths in through the nose.
Hold for a moment.
And then slowly out through the mouth.
Then allowing the breath to return to its natural rhythm.
You don't need to do anything at all.
The body knows how to breathe.
And checking in with yourself.
How do you feel today?
How do you feel physically?
How do you feel emotionally?
See what comes up.
No judgement.
How have the last 12 months changed you?
Taking a moment to reflect on the moments,
Interactions,
Circumstances,
Encounters that have been transformative for you in one way or another over the last year.
Maybe good,
Maybe bad,
Who knows?
No judgement.
Just seeing what comes up.
And what did you learn about yourself?
What lessons were contained in those experiences?
Again,
Maybe good,
Maybe bad,
Who knows?
It was what it was.
No judgement.
And what are you most grateful for?
What are you most grateful for over the last year?
Might be the big things or the small.
Count your blessings,
Name them one by one.
Might be the fact that you're still here,
Still breathing,
Heart still beating.
Might be some love or grace extended to you.
Anything at all.
And then,
As we know,
Change is the only constant.
The only constant.
Therefore,
Growth,
Development,
Doing better,
Knowing better,
New shoots,
Better ways of looking after ourselves and others,
New ways of showing up in the world.
All these things are possible.
They're possible each and every day,
We can always begin again.
But somehow,
The end of the year is a really nice point at which to reflect on that sometimes.
So thinking now of what you might want to leave behind,
Shake off,
Release or let go,
In order to allow yourself to grow,
In order to allow yourself to continue to become who you are,
Who you really,
Really are.
And seeing what comes up for you.
What needs to go?
What needs to stop?
Giving yourself grace,
Of course.
But what would you like to release?
And then looking forward.
Setting your intention.
Setting your intention for the new calendar year.
What encouraging words might you need to tell yourself?
What do you most need to hear?
Perhaps I love you and I'm here for you.
Perhaps please keep going.
Perhaps take very good care of yourself.
Tell yourself what you need to hear as you move from one year to the next.
May you be well.
May you touch peace.
May you know how far you've come and be proud of yourself for doing so.
And may you know that you are loved.
And thank you so,
So much for practicing with me.
Thank you.
