Welcome,
Dear one.
I am so grateful you are here.
In this practice,
You will open your heart to the nectar of self-forgiveness.
So often we hold onto our mistakes and missteps.
They live inside our body as shame and criticism,
And they become cemented into beliefs about who we are.
Practicing forgiveness can be the balm that soothes this suffering,
As it softens us into letting go of the judgment and criticism,
Creating space for us to awaken to our innate inner wholeness.
So to begin,
I invite you to close down your eyes now and settle into your seat,
Softening the jaw,
The face,
The shoulders,
And the belly.
As you turn the light of your awareness towards your beloved breath,
Breathing in slowly and deeply through the nose into the chest and belly,
Feeling the body swell with air and then soften as you breathe out on an open mouth exhale.
Continue to repeat this a few more times in through the nose and out through the mouth,
Releasing a little more into the moment with every inhale and every exhale.
And then let your breath settle into its natural rhythm as you ground down into your base,
Noticing all the places where your body rests into the furniture or floor beneath feeling into the safety and the support that is here for you always.
And now feel into your heart space and ask yourself,
Are there any past mistakes I am holding onto?
Is there harm I have done that I am still harboring?
Are there seeds of shame and guilt living beneath my skin?
Dear one,
As you ask yourself these questions,
Hold yourself here with such tender love,
Noticing whatever arises without judgment and without getting caught in the story.
You are purely witnessing and acknowledging what burdens your heart and just letting it be as it is.
Remembering too that there is no need to feel all the harm,
All the aches in this moment.
Traverse this landscape gently,
Meeting whatever yearns to be seen and felt by you in this moment.
And notice how your body responds as you remember what thoughts,
Sensations or emotions are present.
Welcome this too into the soft channels of your heart with no judgment,
No criticism.
Meet yourself with compassion.
And now take a deep breath into your heart space,
Feeling into the wellspring of love and compassion that exists within you right here and now.
Saying to yourself,
I am truly sorry for the ways I have harmed myself and others.
I'm truly sorry for the mistakes,
For the missteps.
I'm truly sorry for the ways that I have criticized and judged myself.
For the ways I have carried shame deep within my bones.
I am truly sorry.
Breathing deeply,
Feeling these words,
Noticing how your heart and body respond to this reckoning.
And now say to your past self three times,
I love you.
I forgive you.
I love you.
I forgive you.
I love you.
I forgive you.
Steep your whole being in the warm waters of forgiveness,
Letting these waters touch all the places within you,
Caressing every cell,
Every tissue and organ so that you are filled with forgiveness.
I love you.
I forgive you.
And if you notice any lingering weight or residue from your past actions,
Let this too wash away.
As you breathe in forgiveness and love and breathe out any shame,
Any judgment,
Any attachment to the past.
Continue this breath knowing that as you let go,
You are creating space for your deepest self to remember that you have always been worthy.
You have always been enough that any harm or mistake you have made is not the truth of who you are.
Keep breathing in forgiveness,
Love,
Compassion,
Breathing out shame,
Breathing out the past,
Breathing out judgment.
Dear one,
Notice how your body feels now.
Do you feel softer,
Lighter,
More spacious?
Know that if there are layers or heaviness that is still present,
That this is okay too.
Forgiveness and letting go is a gentle unfolding that takes time and devotion.
Just showing up right now as you are is a beautiful gift.
Breathing here,
I invite you to ground into this present moment where the past and the future dissolve as you are seated in the now.
As you feel into your innate wholeness where you are so enough,
So worthy,
So human and divine,
Welcome in this new way of being where you are committed to living a life devoted to your deepest essence.
And then take a moment to bow in gratitude to yourself,
Acknowledging the courage it takes to show up,
To feel and to forgive.
And then slowly feel into the room and the space you are in.
And gently open your eyes and move forward into your day with devotion and deep love for the radiant being that is you.
