Welcome to practice.
My name is Neil Seligman,
Founder of The Conscious Professional.
Thank you for joining me today for this guided mindfulness meditation,
Exploring the teaching,
Be Like Water.
Begin by finding a comfortable posture and by bringing your awareness to the breath.
Take a few moments to let yourself arrive and allow the breath to draw you gently into internal awareness.
Allow the gaze to soften and if appropriate for your situation,
The eyes to close.
As we drop into our practice,
Noticing the sensations of the breath in the body.
Flowing with the inhale and the exhale.
Allowing the breath to lead you into this practice,
Into this moment.
Let's drop into our meditation with the awareness that our bodies are made up of about 60% water.
Sensing into the fluidity of this breathing body.
Allowing the nature of water to reveal itself in you.
Noticing too that 71% of planet Earth is covered in water,
That we are water beings living on a water world.
As we connect to the fluidity of the body and the earth,
Reminding ourselves of some of the qualities and powers of water.
Water flows with ease,
Without judgment,
Without restraint,
Finding the easiest path.
Instead of resisting,
Water dances around and continues its journey.
And so just reflecting if there are any aspects of your life right now where you could bring more of this energy of flow,
Of non-resistance,
Of the dance.
Water moves through different states,
As a fluid,
As a gas and as solid ice.
Noticing as a reflection what parts of your life are moving freely,
Dispersing or frozen.
Holding yourself in tender,
Compassionate,
Gentle awareness as you reflect on these three states and how they show up in your life now.
Knowing that just like water we can move through these states,
Ice can melt,
Water can become steam,
Steam can condense and become water.
And so the nature of water is forever changing,
As is the nature of our lives.
As we sense our water nature,
We might remember our full connection to this world.
After all we did not come into this world,
We came out of it and in those months of gestation we lived in a water world.
We are part of this world,
We are the dance of this world.
And just allowing ourselves to dissolve into this world in full acceptance of who we are,
Where we are and what we are.
As we float through this reflection,
Allowing your contemplation to dissolve into the stillness of the deepest lake.
Seeing yourself floating,
Guided,
Surrounded by love,
Drifting,
Breathing,
Carried.
Water allows us to release tension,
To let go of contraction,
To float,
To be held,
To land.
Breathing here,
Inviting the water to reveal itself to you.
And as we begin to draw the threads of our practice together,
Asking yourself what it really means to you to be like water.
And perhaps setting an intention to emerge with a new intention,
A new idea,
A new peace.
Coming back to the sensations of sitting,
Feeling the physical presence of the body breathing.
Opening to the sounds around you,
Inviting back motion into the fingers and toes.
And in your very own time,
Allowing your eyes to open.
Thank you for joining me in practice today.
