Christmas is the time we turn inwards and recharge ourselves. We spend time with our family and loved ones and we feel nice and cozy. In this guided meditation you experience the joy of Christmas and the happiness of spending your Christmas holiday with your loved ones. During this winter you are invited to spend more time focussing on the love you feel for others, but also for yourself. This meditation helps you with that.

Welcome to this Christmas meditation.

It's wintertime and usually in wintertime we take time for ourselves to turn inwards and sit inside,

Be nice and cozy,

Spend time with our loved ones and get rid of everything that we've accumulated over the year.

Spring is the time of new beginnings,

Summer is the time of energy and getting things done,

Autumn is the time of letting things go and winter is the time to recharge yourself and get ready for spring again.

And now it's Christmas time so I wanted to record a little Christmas meditation.

Whenever you're ready,

Take a seat,

Feel comfortable or lay down in your bed,

Put your head on your pillow or your feet on the ground and whenever that feels right,

Close your eyes and take a big deep breath in through the nose,

Out through the mouth.

Let's take a quick moment to settle down for a little bit,

To feel that we're inside our body.

How are you feeling?

What position are you in?

Take a moment to scan your body,

Starting from the head,

Feel where your head is positioned.

Is it relaxed or is it tense?

Whenever you notice tension,

Don't be afraid to let it go.

Feel the muscles in your face,

The muscles of your eyes,

Of your mouth,

Your cheeks and especially your jaw and your tongue.

Release tension and relax.

Now slowly move down to your neck,

Release all tension in your neck and your shoulders,

Let them hang and let them be followed by your arms,

Your upper arms.

Your hands and your fingers,

Release all tension and relax.

And the rest of your upper body,

Your chest,

Your belly,

Your upper back,

Your lower back,

Relax.

Release all tension from the spine and if you're sitting straight up,

Remain in a straight position but in a relaxed and comfortable way that feels good to you.

And if you're laying down,

Let your upper body sink into the surface below you,

Completely surrendering yourself to gravity.

Now move on to your legs,

Your upper legs,

Your lower legs,

Your feet and your toes.

Give them space to breathe,

Allow them to take on that feeling of relaxation and release all tension.

Feel yourself getting more and more relaxed with every breath that you take,

In through the nose,

Out through your mouth.

Shift your focus to your breathing and notice how you're getting more and more relaxed the more you breathe.

Relaxing tension with every out breath and feeling how relaxed your body is with every breath that you take in.

And now imagine yourself sitting comfortably in a big soft chair under a nice big warm blanket close to the fireplace.

The room is filled with Christmas decoration exactly how you love it and you can feel the warmth of the room warming up your body.

You feel comfortable and cozy and in your left hand you're holding a hot cup of chocolate with whipped cream.

You take a little sip and you can feel the sweetness and the warmth filling your mouth and the cold touch of the whipped cream on your upper lip.

In the background there's soft Christmas music on and you can smell the scent of the Christmas tree in the back of the room.

You can hear the crisping of the fireplace and the light of the fire and the candles around you create a soft little shimmering throughout the whole room.

A Christmas feeling can be felt throughout your whole body.

It's a cozy and warm feeling,

Outside it's snowing and it's cold but inside you're warm,

You're relaxed,

You're exactly where you want to be.

Now enjoy yourself sitting here in your big soft chair underneath your blanket with your hot chocolate,

Smelling the scent of the candles and the Christmas tree,

Enjoying the Christmas music and the fire.

There's nothing you have to do right now,

Everything is being taken care of and all you're allowed to do is sit here and enjoy that Christmas feeling.

Now you decide to stand up,

You put the hot chocolate down on the table and get rid of the blanket and you walk towards a big room with a big door.

Now you can hear music and people laughing at the other side of the door,

There's people enjoying themselves and there's Christmas music.

You can smell the scent of freshly made food,

It's your favorite Christmas food.

You recognize some voices and you decide to open this door.

The moment you open the door a warm feeling welcomes you.

Someone looks at you and they laugh,

There's a big table filled with amazing delicious food waiting for you and surrounding that table are all your loved ones that you would love to spend Christmas with.

They're all there enjoying themselves,

Laughing among each other,

Being happy and they're even more happy that you're there.

There's only one empty chair and you decide to sit down.

You can smell the delicious food and you can hear the laughs of everyone around you.

Now who are these people at your table?

Look around,

How many chairs are there?

And who's in these chairs?

Is it family?

Is it friends?

Is it colleagues?

Maybe it's all of them.

Maybe it's people you haven't seen in a very long time or maybe it's people that you see every single day but who are you spending this amazing Christmas with?

As you look around they look at you and they smile,

They're happy to see you and you welcome their smile by smiling back at them.

You feel love for these people and they feel love towards you.

As you look through the room you get happier and happier with every new face that you see.

Take a moment to observe everyone at this table.

Is there anything you want to say to these people?

Or is there anything that they want to say to you?

Maybe you want to thank them for being there at this Christmas or maybe you want to thank them for being in your life in general.

Maybe there are some unresolved things that you would like to talk about so they get out of the way for all of you to have an amazing Christmas.

Or maybe you don't want to say anything at all and that lovely smile says everything.

Whenever you feel ready,

Realize again that you're inside a body listening to this meditation.

Feel your body and take a big deep breath in through the nose,

Out through your mouth.

Slowly move your fingers and your feet and get back to your body.

Before you open your eyes,

There's one last little Christmas gift that I want to give you.

All these people that you just imagined being at your table,

I want you to spend today thinking about them.

And whenever you feel ready to do so,

Call them up or invite them over for Christmas because these are the people that you care about.

And the most beautiful part of Christmas is that it's a time where you can genuinely share that with people.

You can tell them that you care about them because if you don't do it now,

How will they ever know?

So spend the rest of your day going over these people and either invite them over for Christmas or call them up to tell them that you care about them.

Tell them that you visualized spending Christmas with them and that you loved it.

The best gift you can give someone for Christmas does not always come from a present.

Sometimes saying that you care about someone is the best gift you'll ever give them.

Think about it.

How will it make you feel?

How will it make them feel?

Call these people up,

Invite them over and spread your love.

Whenever you feel ready,

You can open your eyes and get back to your day or make yourself ready to go to bed.

I wish you a lovely Christmas.

Thank you for listening.

Perfect holiday meditation ~ starts with a progressive body relaxation and then moves into a cozy Christmas Day visualization with a fireplace, tree, and eating with loved ones. I’ll come back to this one again.
