A guided sleep meditation specifically designed for migraine and headache relief.
This session is crafted to dial down inflammation,
Soothe overactive nerves,
And offer a deep cooling reprieve from your discomfort.
Please consult with a healthcare professional for any medical concerns.
This recording is a complimentary tool to assist your relaxation and recovery alongside your existing treatments.
I am Michelle and as you listen,
Think of me as a nurturing guide,
A steady hand to lead you toward the quiet.
I offer a place for you to let go of the struggle.
I offer you the space for the relief to begin.
You are safe here,
And you are doing all you can do.
You are doing it well.
It can be so remarkably frustrating to deal with these flare-ups,
But before we begin,
Take this moment to appreciate that you are doing exactly what your body is quite persistently requesting.
Every moment of the day,
Your body keeps you going,
Even when its work goes unnoticed.
And right now,
It is simply giving a signal that it's time for a break.
You have listened and now find yourself in this sanctuary,
Where there is nothing left for you to do except trust that we are going to dial down your discomfort and give every nerve cell the attention it seeks.
The message was received,
And now it's time for those signals to stop being so loud.
Find a safe,
Dark,
Quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
You may let go of my voice at any point if this meditation leads you into a nap or a deep,
Restorative rest.
Sleep can often bring refreshing change that is a pleasant surprise.
You may awaken feeling better,
And this moment of intensity will be but a distant memory.
This discomfort will pass.
Think of it merely as information you've collected.
You know what you need right now more than anyone else,
And we are going to start making you feel better together.
Sometimes the signals become overamplified,
And we simply need to slow down,
Listen,
And retreat.
Let's transform all the uncomfortable pulses and inflammation one easy breath and thought at a time.
As you lie down on a bed or a soft couch or the floor,
Get as comfortable as you possibly can.
There is the physical pain itself,
And then there is the secondary stress that clings to it.
The tension in the shoulders,
The judgment of the body,
And the very understandable frustration.
How does it feel if you start to let go of all that secondary stuff?
Sense the grip of it all releasing as you sink deeper and let out a sigh.
No judgment,
No overthinking.
Approach your body right now with compassion,
Even though it's acting out more dramatically than you'd like.
It wanted you to slow down,
And that's exactly what you are doing.
So maybe the volume of that discomfort can start to dial down a little at a time.
If you feel any resentment or holding or irritation,
You can release it now.
Your body isn't failing you,
It's calling for you to come home to the cool and the quiet.
And here you are.
Your breathing may get a bit tense and shallow in these moments,
So let's try and invite in a little expansion.
And as I guide you,
Know you can inhale and exhale at whatever pacing feels right for you now.
I'm just connecting you with this vital part of being.
Let out a sigh of release,
Making a sound if it helps,
Or silently if that feels better.
And when you're ready to inhale,
Exhale.
Sense yourself taking in a stream of cool,
Blue,
Soothing oxygen molecules.
Focus on the temperature of this healing,
Oxygen-rich air.
Imagine a mountain-fresh breeze circulating through your space,
Filling your lungs and purifying them.
The air travels to those places of heat,
Pressure,
And pulsing,
Offering a soothing salve.
And as you exhale in a sigh,
Surrender to this moment where the only intention is feeling better and finding release.
You release the grip of your muscles.
And one breath at a time,
You may see the dials of your discomfort coming down.
It may be gradual,
Fluid,
And effortless.
And as you inhale again,
Feel the high-altitude freshness touching the back of your throat and traveling up your nasal passages.
It feels like a silver thread bringing a welcome,
Refreshing chill.
As you exhale,
Imagine that air carrying away the heat,
The redness,
And the static of the day.
Breathe in the cool,
Blue mist,
And breathe out the heavy,
Gray clouds.
And when you're ready,
Allow your breath to find its most relaxed rhythm.
You are now empowered to understand.
You may return to your breath whenever you need to feel more space.
And distance yourself from any thoughts about this flare-up.
And right now,
Gently shift your attention to a healing mountain sanctuary.
And as thoughts of this healing,
Cool place come to life,
Rising like evening mist in the soothing blues of twilight,
Your guard begins to drop.
Your intentions are set on soothing.
You drift between your room and this mountain sanctuary.
The transition is dreamy,
Easy.
But in this delightful in-between,
You encounter a center within your mind.
A control room with large,
Round dials that adjust what you sense and feel.
Imagine your conscious mind as this control room.
In the center of the room is a large,
Smooth dial that controls the volume of the current sensations you now feel.
Place your hand on the dial now.
Feel it fit perfectly within your palm.
You have the power to shift the focus,
Slowly,
Almost imperceptibly.
Turn the dial so you feel a little less,
And a little less.
You don't need to force it,
You simply allow the volume to lower.
And the sharpness of the nerves fade into a soft,
Velvet silence.
Pain may never completely radiate at the same level at all times.
It ebbs and flows.
Note the intensity now and visualize how good it will feel as it continues to come down.
And with this clarity,
You continue to drift.
You escape the heavy,
Crowded air of the lowlands and move toward the high mountain peaks.
Your bare feet land softly in the cool,
White marble of an expansive patio.
To your left and right,
The patio is hugged by the raw,
Jagged peaks of the mountain.
But before you,
The view opens up into a deep,
Midnight blue infinity.
You breathe in the pristine air.
A few stars freckle the celestial expanse,
And a pale sliver of a new moon rises,
Casting a metallic glow over the ice-capped ridges.
Everything feels lighter here,
And graceful.
You step from the patio into the main room of this mountain sanctuary.
And as you cross the threshold,
The air temperature drops into a perfect,
Refreshing chill.
This room is carved directly into the living,
Shimmering stone of the summit.
The walls are massive and ancient,
Smoothed over centuries to a texture like polished alabaster.
You can see the natural veins of silver and quartz running through the rock,
Catching the soft moonlight,
And glowing with an internal aura.
The walls feel solid and protective,
A fortress of quiet.
The ceiling is a high,
Vaulted dome.
And directly above the center of the room,
A massive,
Circular skylight has been cut into the stone.
It is open to the night sky,
Allowing the pure mountain air and indigo hues to pour down into the space.
No lights are required,
And your tired eyes find instant comfort in the dim,
Natural sheen of the stone.
You feel the mist from the high-altitude clouds drifting through the skylight,
And landing on your skin like a healing veil.
It brings comfort from the crown of your head all the way down to the soles of your feet.
Floor to ceiling,
Sheer white curtains are draped across the arched openings of the stone,
Dancing and swaying in a constant,
Circulating breeze.
You watch them move.
They remind you of how good it can feel to be lightweight,
To surrender to the soft air that now kisses your forehead and cheeks.
Embarrassing a sense of release.
The curtains swell and retreat with a mountain wind.
The constant ebb and flow is delicate,
Yet calming.
You float across the floor,
Feeling the refreshing coolness of the stone beneath you.
You wear a lightweight robe made of gauzy linen that glides against your skin The heavy,
Bogged down feelings of your day,
And all that's settled heavily in your nervous system,
Are uplifted by the sheer,
Airy quality of this space.
It's a place where you may finally breathe in utter peace and quiet.
As the curtains billow,
Draw your attention inward,
As if taking an internal journey within your own body.
Move your awareness behind your eyes,
Into the very center of the sensation that brought you here.
Imagine yourself walking through the corridors of your own mind.
In the past,
This may have felt like a hot,
Dense,
Red pressure.
But look again.
In the light of this mountain sanctuary,
The sensation is changing.
It is becoming translucent.
It becomes like frosted glass,
Or a pale,
Icy blue mist.
You can see through it.
Observe the tempo of the throb.
It is a vibration.
See it as a rhythmic wave.
But as the cool,
Mountain breeze passes through the curtains and now your mind,
The vibration begins to widen.
It slows its tempo.
It turns from a sharp,
Jagged pulse into a low,
Resonant,
Silver song.
You are turning the volume down.
You are turning the intensity down on the vibration.
You are dimming it to your liking.
Everything is becoming pale,
Silvery blue.
And still,
The edges of the pane are rounding off,
Becoming smooth and quiet like pearly stones at the bottom of a glacial lake.
And with this sense of inner peace,
You continue through the sanctuary.
Your feet land on a velvety blue runner on the cool,
Marble floor.
You drift on the soft cloud of comfort down the long hallway that leads deeper into the mountain of sweet.
The walls are narrow and intimate,
Painted to resemble jade,
With swirling and soothing shades of greens and teals that make you feel as though you are drifting on the waves of a calm,
Moonlit sea.
Delicate starlight filters through the windows overhead,
And the sound of the mountain breeze whispers through the lofty space.
You arrive to the bedroom suite.
On a frosted glass table,
You find a cup of tea.
An elixir to bring more internal comfort.
You raise the ceramic mug to your lips and sip it slowly.
It is silky,
Yet tingly from peppermint,
And perfectly lukewarm.
As it lands on your tongue,
The healing begins from the inside.
You feel the tingling,
Cooling sensation traveling through your body like a soft frost,
Moving through your nerves,
Quieting everything it touches.
The air in this room is purified through the mountain stone,
And each breath you take cleanses your nerves,
Cooling them from the inside out.
It is so crisp,
It reminds you of the taste of fresh spring water from a high-altitude stream.
You reach the heart of the suite,
The great inner chamber.
It is designed to resemble an open-air grotto.
Directly beneath the open skylight lies the sunken pool.
A cool breeze flows down through the opening in the roof.
Traveling over your scalp and down your neck and shoulders in undulating waves,
The coolness ebbs and flows from head to toe.
The velvet sapphire blue darkening curtains are draped on the far windows,
Protecting you from any stray,
Unwanted light.
You welcome the muted darkness.
The flare-ups from inflammation and activity of your nerves are softened,
Quieted,
And eased by the gentleness of the space in this protective stone dwelling.
In the center of this airy room,
The pool of steamy,
Warm mineral water waits for you,
Its surface reflecting the sliver of the moon above.
You remove your robe and lower your body into it,
Feeling the heavy,
Grounding warmth.
Embrace your legs,
Your hips,
And your torso.
The water is a perfect temperature,
Like a heavy,
Liquid,
Heated blanket.
You feel gravity leave your muscles,
Your body feel safe and deeply relaxed as you lie back.
Your head now rests on a soft,
Marshmallow-like float at the edge of the pool,
Perfectly positioned under the silver thread of a waterfall.
This water falls from a hidden crevice in the stone,
Glacial,
Pure,
And perfectly cold.
You revel in this contrasting split,
Your body tucked into a warm mineral bath,
While the crown of your head your temples and your forehead receive the icy,
Numbing kiss of the waterfall.
Sapphire blue relief.
The minerals of the water absorb into your skin,
Relaxing every fiber of your being.
Your jaw releases,
Your muscles stretch like taffy,
And you exchange discomfort for a blissful,
Chilled numbness.
The waterfall settles over your brows like a liquid ice pack,
Numbing your nerves and shrinking the inflammation,
Millimeter by millimeter,
Cell by cell.
You visualize the inflamed cells that were once like the bubbles of boiling water,
And they have now delightfully slowed down to near stillness.
And the more your attention is drawn to these pleasant experiences,
The more your headache subsides.
And in the safe,
Healing place,
You imagine going to each firing nerve,
Each overactive neuron,
To thank them for their work.
You thank them for delivering the message.
But with empathy,
You let them know that sometimes miscommunication occurs.
You inform them that sometimes they are sending too many signals.
You let them know it's okay for them to stand down and enjoy a deserved break.
They have done their job.
And you feel the firing nerves and muscles and neurons in your body begin to settle and embrace this moment for a break.
You are guiding this shift.
And your body listens as you redirect each nerve cell toward a holiday.
Some of the overworked nerve cells may resist or try to get back to buzzing.
But if they do,
You may calmly revisit the center of activity and remind them it's time for a universal holiday.
These messengers are free to take this time off.
They are free to luxuriate in the coolness of the moment.
They are free to settle and rest.
Time passes and flows in this sweet,
Soothing room.
You drift in and out of consciousness and ride the gentle,
Soft waves of peace and healing.
The water guides you towards the edge of the pool,
Where another waterfall cascades down the glittering rocks.
You settle your head into the float.
And once more,
Let the cool water land on your scalp.
This time,
The pressure is more persistent,
The water even more numbing.
Unguarded,
Your heart is open and takes this all in.
The distant,
Twinkling stars offer hope.
The expansive sky brings you out of restrictive confinement.
And you may recognize that you can return to this place at any time.
It's now stored within the memory banks of your mind.
It can be accessed at the first incoming signs of discomfort.
And you may close your eyes and breathe.
You may inform your nerves that they need not escalate in the same way.
You are listening.
You are putting your body first.
And just as the waves of healing water flow between smooth,
Slick rocks of the mountain,
So too do the healing vibrations flow through your veins and arteries.
Pulsing with your heart in tandem.
Tranquilizing you from head to toe.
Floating and drifting,
Your head nuzzled beneath the chilled waterfall.
Your body warmed and caressed by the healing pool.
And you may remain in this space for as long as you desire.
Floating,
Drifting back to the sanctuary of your room.
Arising into the plush bed in this mountain haven that offers luxurious support.
Or floating across the velvety night sky.
For this moment,
Relief is allowed to exist.
Freeing you to go wherever you desire.
Soaring in between worlds towards the restoration of sleep.
Soft and easy as you ebb and flow.
You have done so well.
You are capable of self-soothing and de-escalating things that once felt out of control.
Appreciate the lingering safety,
Confidence,
And ease that this brings.
And as you drift,
Let go of my voice.
Let go of everything.
Surrender to the flow,
The ripples,
The soothing,
Calming space between worlds.
Your temples and jaw are relaxed and soft.
Your body is soft.
And as you drift towards a night of sleep or towards a nap.
Finding space.
Finding restorative sleep.

This was amazing. Thank you. I don’t have true migraines, but I do get sinus headaches that are debilitating. I’ve had one all day today and this meditation helped it go away. I’m grateful.
