Float into a deep sleep with relaxing dreams in this guided sleep meditation and bedtime story that will transport you to another era in time.

You are listening to Gatsby Dreams,

A sleep story set in the roaring 20s where you may find yourself immersed in the splendor of an opulent party just for you as summer wanes and the onset of fall nips the air.

This joyous celebration will bring you to a state of heightened aliveness and bliss as you experience summer's final hurrah before you drift asleep.

It's time to dream away.

I would like to welcome you to Michelle's Sanctuary.

I am Michelle and as you are listening you may think of my voice as that of a friend and ally.

My intention is to offer you the most imaginative and enjoyable experiences in the special place between your waking and sleeping life.

Now is the time to let go of any concerns for tomorrow or what has already happened.

Connect to the present moment where you are safe,

You are serene and you have earned every moment of relaxation and bliss.

Clear out all the thoughts that cloud your mind so we may set the stage for a decadent night of luxury from an era gone by.

Your imagination is the key to unlocking this adventure and if at any point you wish to drift to sleep you may surrender and ride the waves of peace that usher you to sweet dreams.

In the sanctuary of your imagination you are free to do anything as you craft your dreamscape.

So get cozy and take in a deep breath with a clean oxygen expanding your body like a hot air balloon.

And then exhale it all out,

Sighing and sinking deeper into your bed.

And then take in another delicious breath,

Visualizing that you are now floating above your bed,

Drifting towards the ceiling.

And as you exhale,

Blowing out the air through your pursed lips,

The ceiling opens like a book.

You are cast in the pastel lemon-hued light of the moon that softens as you continue to float.

You are amazed by the reveal of a velvety night's sky.

The stars above are twinkling like holiday lights left to dangle from a luxurious midnight blue cape.

A night's breeze is like a gentle massage beneath your body as you ascend higher and higher,

Floating among the stars.

Inhaling and exhaling,

You are cloaked in a tingling sensation from head to toe.

As you travel through a portal to another time,

You succumb to the brilliance of the moonbeams that flash brightly before you pass through to this earlier dimension.

You are now drifting through an afternoon sky and feel as light as the wispy clouds that appear around you.

There is a quietude that contrasts the constant hum of the modern world.

You float above the Long Island Sound,

A tidal estuary of the Atlantic Ocean with a state of Connecticut to the north and Long Island to the south.

The water is like an expansive pool of rippling clover honey,

Tinted by the light of the late day summer's sun.

The air is warm and a salty mist covers your skin as you drift by seagulls.

They voice their excitement for this time of day where fresh fish are abundant.

Verdant-rich marshes bring fragrant notes of fertile wet earth and salt water to your nose as you come closer to the earth's surface.

You feel the warmth of the sun as you fly above the coastline that is decorated with glamorous estates and mansions.

Like heligreen lawns are manicured to look like soft felt,

Contained by tall fences and sprawling yards.

You drift above a stone mansion that faces the Long Island Sound.

You hear the sounds of jazz music wafting across the air softly like a silk scarf carried on the ocean's breeze.

Below you see revelers enjoying a party on an estate.

The tangerine orb of the sun begins its descent towards the horizon as you descend towards the party.

Your body tingles from head to toe and suddenly you find yourself adorned in fancy clothing of the time that hugs your body tailored perfectly to every contour.

Approaching the estate,

You notice an Olympic sized swimming pool in the center of the yard.

Water cascades from the spouts of marble sculpted fountains and grand arcs.

Cast in the glow of the disappearing sun,

The light refracts and it appears as though rainbows are being poured into the twinkling turquoise pool.

Some party attendees are dressed in swim caps and modest bathing attire in nautical stripes.

They splash each other and relish the last golden drops of summer's sunlight.

You land near the dance floor like a mythical figure and your body writes itself as you dust off your clothes like Mary Poppins.

You softly feel your feet land on the pillowy bright green grass as your heels dig into the damp brown soil.

The music stops as the party attendees all pause for a moment and then welcome your landing with smiles and applause.

You recognize some of their faces.

They are the faces of people you love,

Some you have not seen in quite a while.

And you are the guest of honor.

Perhaps you sometimes feel shy in your waking life,

But in this other dimension you feel the gaiety of the 1920s.

Your welcoming is well received and you feel a smile warming your face as it beams brightly.

You are content and free to be every expression of yourself without judgment from yourself or anyone else.

The music plays on and the attendees return to dancing and mingling.

Couples do the Charleston on the dance floor with their knees bent and feet kicking out as if they are made of rubber.

The women are dressed in hand beaded dresses in jeweled tones like emerald green,

Ruby,

Amethyst and sapphire blue.

Tassels swing from the ends of each flapper gown in a hypnotic motion like wind swept dresses of metallic hair riding on the salty air.

Women wear elaborate beaded headdresses with feathers that wrap around their short irreverent bobs.

The men are dressed in black fitted jackets with long swallow tails in the back that cover white vests and dress shirts.

Black bow ties are tied around their necks.

The attendees are as statuesque as mannequins on display in the window of Saks Fifth Avenue.

For a moment you stand and take in their poise.

You walk towards a pyramid shaped tower of crystal glasses.

A strawberry hued effervescent elixir cascades down like a waterfall,

Perfectly reflecting the flamingo pink skies of sunset overhead.

You take a glass carefully from the bottom and sip the beverage,

Feeling as it causes your body to tingle as it cascades down your throat.

You feel liberated and light and your body sways to the music.

You look to the sky as it darkens in shades of plum and raspberry.

Across the dance floor you feel someone's eyes are on you,

Gazing with kindness and love.

You look up and feel the connection to someone you love beyond space and time.

The depth in this person's eyes are like a pool of warm water you could dive into,

Feeling all at once safe and content.

The sound of a trumpet is carried by a cool breeze as you glide towards the dance floor.

You feel like you are floating above the earth's surface between steps,

Detached from gravity in these spurts.

The trumpet plays notes that tug at your heart and your solar plexus with a deep sensation of longing and wonder.

You come close to your partner on the dance floor and lock eyes,

Clasping hands as you begin to dance beneath the starry sky.

Like in a dream,

You move with innate grace that requires no thought.

Your body instinctively knows the mechanics of the dance.

And softly in the distance,

You hear the incoming tide drawn in by the luminescent silver moon overhead.

As you sashay across the floor with your partner,

You feel as if you are gracefully moved by the moon,

Like the briny waves.

Like a marionette surrendering to the gentle pull of strings,

You go round and round the dance floor,

Weaving between other couples.

You feel the warm hand of your dance partner on the small of your back,

And it makes you feel safe and loved.

The tender sound of jubilant laughter carries over the sonic bliss of the jazz band.

These human-made melodies wrap around the dance floor in a sweet embrace before traveling out over the Long Island Sound.

The dance ends and your partner invites you to take a walk.

Together you travel towards the ebony waters that glimmer in the distance beneath a clear late summer sky.

You feel as your heels grip into the damp earth.

You inhale the fragrance of roses that grow in nearby bushes in a rainbow of pastel colors,

Lining the walkway to the dock.

The light of the moon and stars are enough to illuminate the path.

As your elegantly dressed partner guides you to the water,

You hear the soft squeaks of the wood planks of the dock and their gentle give and take with the tide.

The ebony waters are illuminated by the moon,

Crashing on the small stones of the shore in silvery ripples.

Together you walk towards the edge of the dock and watch as a school of tiny fish create a flash of pearly white across the surface of the water.

You saddle on the dock's edge,

Allowing your feet to dangle just above the estuary as the patent leather and ornamentation on your shoes glimmer in the moonbeams.

You look to the dark sky to see a star shoot across it and you make a wish.

You wish to always feel this free to be yourself.

To feel as comfortable as you do now in any setting,

In any time,

And any place.

To feel the warmth of the love you feel right now.

Fireflies light up the shoreline like banana yellow lanterns.

Looking towards the east you see a great beacon of white that cuts through the low lying mist of the sound,

Shining brightly from a lighthouse miles away.

Your partner clasps your hand as your fingers interlock,

Weaving together like the seagrass that flows in shallow waters of the sound.

Within a nearby cove of tall grass,

You notice two swans are nestling together.

Charmed,

You remember that swans mate for life.

You enjoy the quietude,

Listening as the band plays on in the distance and the waves lap against the shore.

The delicate melody of laughter and chatter travel easily across the estate and give you a sense of community even as you enjoy the privacy of the dark.

You look to the stars with appreciation,

Thinking of their permanence over time.

You spot the Big Dipper and the North Star.

Beneath the majesty of the starry sky,

You feel yourself becoming tired as you are lulled to the state by the gentle rocking of the dock.

You stand with your partner and walk back towards the main lawn just as the party begins to dwindle.

Your partner leads you towards the main entrance of the mansion.

The doors open into a ballroom that is now quiet and abandoned.

You see an imperial staircase where two winding staircases come together on a second floor landing.

The black and white steps are like the keys of a piano,

Partially covered by a velvety red carpet.

A chandelier hangs above the ballroom,

Dripping in crystals like an ornate crown.

Your partner takes you towards the staircase before sweetly wishing you good night and stepping out into the evening.

You feel the cool wooden banister in your hand as you ascend the stairs,

Gliding one at a time.

You rise above the ballroom and pause on the landing,

Coming level with windows that look out onto the pool and the gardens below.

You see the beaming light from the lighthouse cutting through the darkness of the late night.

As you make it to the second floor,

You are met by a butler dressed in a tuxedo.

He carries a silver tray that he balances on his white gloved hand and it contains a gold edged tumbler glass of water.

You thank him as you take it and sip,

Enjoying the cool and fresh taste that cleanses your palate.

You follow as he leads you to double white doors that lead to the master suite in the east wing.

The doors open to reveal a room cloaked in cream carpet.

You remove your shoes and feel the softness of it beneath your bare feet.

The windows face the sound and there is a Juliet balcony overlooking the shore.

Strong silk white curtains run from the crown moldings of the ceiling to the surface of the carpet and dance delicately in the breeze that smells of garden flowers and salty air.

The doors quietly close behind you and you enjoy the silence of the art deco themed room.

You notice a painting hanging on the gold silk wallpaper.

It depicts a woman dressed in a beaded gold dress,

Lounging in the curve of a crescent moon as the tassels of her dress dangle into the starry sky.

The painting enchants you with this goddess of sleep hanging from the sky.

Your attention turns to a canopy bed where gold velvet drapes are hung around a plush mattress that is covered with purple velvet bedding.

A pair of silk pajamas is draped over the edge of the wooden bed frame.

You change out of your fancy attire,

Letting the garments fall onto a chase lounge near a mirrored vanity table.

You slip into the silk pajamas that flow around your body like cool waves.

You are drawn to the moon one last time and you walk out onto the Juliet balcony.

You see a sage Rolls Royce peel out of the dirt driveway as the last of the attendees leaves for the night.

With your arms outstretched,

You grasp the balcony's railing and open your heart towards the sound,

Expanding your chest towards the moon above.

You sip in the last of summer,

Taking a deep breath,

Feeling the nip of autumn on your nose.

Many summers will come again and again throughout history before meeting the year you were born.

And you long to stay in this era a bit longer,

Where the world is so silent at night.

The landscape is less dense and this entire era feels dedicated to celebration and joy and the wonders of being alive.

And as you look to the water,

You take a mental picture of this opulent beauty and tuck it deep within the sacred corners of your mind.

So you may awaken with the same feelings of joy and splendor in the days to come.

Your imagination is free to conjure these images and the sense of belonging whenever you so desire.

For now you feel so heavy and tired,

With a content sensation that comes from a day well spent and lived to its fullest.

You walk across the lush cream carpet,

Feeling your feet sink into it one last time.

As you come to the canopy bed,

You peel back the heavy bedspread and climb onto the bed before tucking yourself within the crisp cotton sheets and warmth of the velvet blanket.

The cool air of the night travels through the open windows,

Creating the perfect climate for slumber.

You sink deep beneath the weight of the bedding,

Letting your eyelids close heavily upon your tired eyes.

Feeling safe and sound in another time,

Knowing you have the freedom to travel to any era you desire in the dream world that awaits.

Going deeper and deeper down,

Welcoming the vibrant,

Pleasurable dreams to come.

You are safe.

You are sound.

You are free to drift to sleep.

And I am going to count you down towards the Gatsby dreams that await you deep in the night.

Ten.

Nine.

Eight.

Seven.

Six.

Five.

Four.

Three.

Two.

One.

Finding bliss.

Finding peace.

Finding sleep.

It's time to dream away.

Good night.
