Hello there and welcome to Michelle's Sanctuary.
You are listening to A Stormy Night in the Tropics,
A guided meditation and hypnotic story that will help you relax,
Cuddle up,
And take refuge as you drift into a deep and sacred sleep.
In the sleep hypnosis,
You will find yourself bunkered down in your island home,
Riding out a tropical storm with howling winds and soothing rain and distant thunder.
Please only listen to this recording when you are in a safe place where you are able to fall asleep without interruption.
As you find a comfortable place to lay down,
You find yourself feeling very heavy and relaxed as you inhale and exhale.
Each breath is like a gentle mimic of the stormy winds in this hypnotic story as you inhale again and exhale and inhale and exhale.
Your eyelids are resting like shutters over your tired eyes,
Breathing in and out,
Expanding your diaphragm and letting the night air go to the very depths of your abdomen as you find release.
Imagine if you will that you are located in the tropical home on a small island,
Not far from the white sand of a pristine beach.
This is a historic beach town,
Settled over centuries by people from different parts of the world and there is an eclectic flair and sacred history here.
The homes of this town are colorful and of a different time.
They have endured many storms over the years and as a tropical storm is coming in,
The white sand of the nearby beach is cast with shades of grey and the ocean waters are turbulent and reflecting deep shades of purple,
Just like the dark storm clouds overhead.
The air is thick and stifling from the heat and humidity,
Soon to seek release as the front moves in.
Although many have decided to evacuate the island,
You have ridden out many storms before and know you are safe and protected.
Before the rain began,
You took one last walk on the beach,
The cool sand coming up between your toes,
The stormy dark underbelly of incoming clouds gave you the instinctive reaction to go home and prepare.
You found yourself outside your colorful home.
It is a bungalow that carries with it a strong history,
Existing for more than a century.
The walls contain an understanding and wisdom of riding out storms and you find this inspiring.
This house has seen much more than you have in this life and yet it still stands,
Strong and resilient.
You have just closed the shutters from outside and scrolled away supplies,
Feeling prepared and also alive inside.
There is a tangible excitement,
Like sparks firing through your veins and causing your scalp to tingle.
You feel humble in the wake of this storm.
You notice how the palm trees sway in the wind,
Brushing off the rain as you take it all in one last time before entering your bungalow.
And as the winds are picking up,
The rain more heavily pelting against the roof of your home,
You are realizing you have done all you need to do.
You pour yourself a beverage,
Perhaps a glass of wine or a warm cup of tea and take refuge on the plush sofa of your living area.
There is a sharp change in the temperature.
The humidity is starting to break and the air is getting cooler.
You cuddle on your sofa with a plush and velvety blanket and just continue to breathe deeply,
Sighing out air and surrender to whatever will come on this night.
And as you are sinking deep into the soft cushions,
Your mind travels back to being a child,
To a time when you first remember experiencing a storm like this.
How it was both terrifying and exciting.
How wonderful that first sleep through a rainy night felt.
Each hypnotic pelt of water like a soft drum lulling you to sleep.
How the dreams that come during a stormy night are so deep and so very healing at the same time.
And as you reflect,
You feel so grateful for the time you have now.
Feel how nature has the power to shut down all the worries,
All the routines and the busyness of your daily life.
You may often want to just take time to yourself like you are doing right now.
The guilt and this desire to excel get in the way.
But when the overpowering strength of a storm and nature's beauty come to halt your routine,
You feel a reprieve.
You feel the wondrous enormity of the world beyond your daily existence.
And this allows you to tap deeper into your connection with the universe and your connection with your true self.
You realize now it is time to go to bed.
The storm rages outside,
Becoming stronger.
And you lead yourself to the bedroom.
The power is out and candles glow all around.
Flickering flames of orange casting shadows on your bed and walls.
It feels so intimate and inviting.
You walk to your bed,
Each step feeling like it takes more and more effort as your energy is reaching depletion.
You peel off your clothes and climb into the elevated canopy bed that awaits you.
And you sink into the plush mattress,
Covering yourself with a soft cotton blanket and sheets.
The palms outside are rustling in the tropical winds,
The smell of clean,
Humid,
Rainy air comes over you and you feel yourself surrender in your bed.
And maybe it's from the fallen mangoes and the trees outside,
But there is also a very sweet and succulent scent in the air.
Your home is like a gift box around you,
Protective,
Offering serenity from the storm.
And you allow each tap from each drop of rain to correspond to a part of your body,
Imagining what it would feel like to have a relaxing massage from the heavy rains.
And each rhythmic drop,
Like a hypnotic drum,
Is taking you deeper and deeper down as you inhale and exhale.
You are in the moment,
Nothing else before or after right now concerns you.
You are completely entrenched in this experience,
The aliveness of being present to this moment,
As if nothing before or after matters.
You take this as a practice,
A practice you will maintain in your daily life more often,
Living in the moment,
Being present.
And you realize how anxiety and depression have no bearing when you are in the moment.
Aliveness and awareness take over the noise of anxiety about the future and concerns about the past.
All that really matters is right now.
The whipping winds wrap around your bungalow as you drift further toward sleep,
Knowing that tomorrow you will awaken to a new day.
The sun will shine and the storm will be but a memory.
But right now,
You are in the thick of it,
Going deeper and deeper down,
Finding ease and peace,
Softly transitioning to dreams that you will remember,
Dreams that will offer you wisdom and understanding on this magical and stormy night.
I am going to count you down,
Slowly down,
Closer to sleep,
To the rest and respite that you truly deserve.
Because this experience is all for you,
All for you to enjoy and unwind,
Reminding you of how small those concerns you have are,
Focusing on the bigger picture,
The expansiveness of nature and the world around you.
It is always there,
Waiting for you to let go and experience,
To experience in all the glorious sensations and vibrant colors.
Going down to sleep.

Finding peace,
Finding bliss,
Finding escape,
Safety from the storm.
Connecting with the part of yourself that represents stillness,
Even in the eye of a storm.
Doing all that you need to do because everything is just fine and you are just right as you find stillness,
Find sleep,
Find respite.
Good night.
