An original poem by Heidi Fischer. This writing describes facing societal difficulties and disappointments, all while struggling with knowing who to trust. It suggests we turn to the artists of the past, and in doing so find encouragement in knowing that great art will continue to be produced and with it, new hope. The poem opens/closes with chimes and music plays in the background. Music by Kevin MacLeod: "Ancient Winds".

Where can it come from?

The comfort in the night?

When the world is cold,

Who will spark the light?

The ocean is your blanket,

And in it you are swimming.

Drowning in the tide,

Gagging on the hate.

Lungs are glass,

Breathing makes them shatter.

You wonder,

Will it matter if you fight?

Clutching to your chest,

You really truly wonder,

Who's behind that face?

Are they sister?

Are they brother?

Or do they wish you to be absent from their world?

If you close your eyes and hold them a little tighter,

Will you float away?

We turn to our old poets,

They always knew much better.

The Leonard's and the Lennon's,

The Frieda's and the Monet's,

The Warhol's and the Mitchell's,

The ones that say keep fighting,

Who rap it in music,

Who hang banners in their windows,

Who unfold their parchments riding through the tears.

The anchor is your pillow,

And on it you are floating.

You are wilder than this current.

We will rise above the loathing.

We will unite.

We will rise above the loathing.
