An original poem by Heidi Fischer. This poem centers on the difficulty of learning to trust others due to past experience with trauma and having Complex-PTSD. It speaks of the confusion that this kind can bring and the sadness of recognizing that others were not kind. It reminds us of the power of kindness and vulnerability, and it acknowledges that healing connection is possible. The poem opens/closes with chimes and very light music plays in the background. Music by Kevin Macleod: "Ritual"

Small kindnesses go a long way.

Accumulated over time,

These kindnesses help to heal the things of the past.

It doesn't erase them,

Nothing ever could.

Damage done by humans needs mending from humans,

But humans are scary things,

To me at times.

So I sit on my perch and observe like a hawk,

And then one day I see it,

And I know.

This person can be trusted.

There are times where I struggle to comprehend the why of it.

Why would this person show me this niceness?

Why will they listen when others would not?

Why can they see me and hear me?

Why do they remember so well when others simply forgot?

And in all the wondering is a type of sorrow for those that wouldn't,

That couldn't,

And that chose not to see me.

Yet in this darkness I see you sit down beside me.

In your hand is a small something and it starts to feel clear.

This kindness you've given can only be encountered by those that observe,

And through our perceiving we show ourselves worthy,

As I too see the best part of you.

Your kindness sees me,

And in turn I see you.

Thank you. “Your kindness sees me and in return I see you”. I have not been seeing with kindness by a romantic partner in a really long time. I see them with the kindness eyes. Maybe the kindes I see it’s my own .

Silent at 1:04 twice, but got to play through the 3rd attempt, not sure what the glitch was. Beautiful. Thank you.
