Reiki For Real Life: 5 Principles For Peace And Purpose

With Gina Ferrara

Just for today, I will not anger, I will not worry, I will be grateful, I will work with diligence, I will be kind to myself and all beings. I'm Gina Ferrara a Reiki master teacher and student. Perhaps you have heard these precepts. They are the five Reiki principles that create the foundation for welcoming Reiki and as importantly for living our best lives. Welcome to "Reiki for Real Life: 5 Principles for Peace and Purpose". This course will run 8 sessions and is open to everyone! You do not have to be a Reiki Practitioner to gain value from these simple but powerful affirmations. If you are a practitioner this is a way to deepen your practice. If you are not a practitioner, this will be a road map for living a fulfilling life. I believe everyone who immerses themselves in the ease of the principles can strengthen a connection to self, and find inner strength and greater happiness. Each day will include a narrative to generate ideas and further your inner exploration, all of which we can discuss within our classroom. Sessions will end with a meditation or practice to incorporate the principle. Visualization, body scan, grounding cord, loving-kindness, and gratitude meditations will be utilized. I encourage journaling as a part of the course and for your reflections. We will discuss Reiki Energy as it relates to the principles, but this is not an overview of the system. Reiki Energy is sourced from the universe and is all around us. It is easy to receive and needs no preparation. Everyone can derive benefit from the teachings and meditations of this course. Each session will include a Reiki energy transmission to guide my presentation and offer you the peaceful grace of this powerful but gentle relaxation experience. This course aims to identify the principles as a guide and practice, toward enriching life and advancing health and stability. So join me on this journey as we pursue our path toward peace and immerse ourselves in understanding the potential of Reiki energy and the healing power we hold within.

Lesson 1

Introduction - Intention And The Principles

Welcome to Day 1! Before we fully explore each principle, we will examine the concept of intention and its purpose in the Reiki process and our lives. We often think of intention as a goal or plan, but it can also be used for direction and to maintain a mindful connection. We conclude with a full body scan meditation. Music credit: Manuel Portillo

Lesson 2

Just For Today

Just For Today is the preamble to the 5 Reiki Principles. It's a reminder that no matter our challenges, our primary responsibility is to remain in the present moment. Mindfulness is a theme throughout the principles and is at the forefront of each. The closing meditation involves silence using breath and the here and now. Music Credit: Manuel Portillo

Lesson 3

I Will Not Anger

The first principle, is "I Will Not Anger". We will explore the challenges behind this statement. Though anger can be seen as a prompt to a situation that needs resolution, we cannot avoid the negative impact on our mental and physical health routine expression of anger can present. As a practice to manage such deep feelings, we will conclude with breath and affirmation meditation. Music credit: Manuel Portillo

Lesson 4

I Will Not Worry

Many people find challenges when attempting to manage "worry". It's easy to say, "I won't worry," but putting it into practice involves shifting thought processes and reversing old patterns. We will examine worry and invite an exercise to release energy from within to feel less burdened by negative or unnecessary thoughts. Music credit: Manuel Portillo

Lesson 5

I Will Be Grateful

Gratitude! The 3rd Principle. We move from the "will nots" of the first 2 principles to the "will" of gratefulness. Just for today, I will be grateful. There is growing research on the positive potential of living with an "attitude of gratitude". This exciting concept can be expressed in daily practice, through acknowledgment, journaling, and affirmations. We will consider the value of gratitude as it applies to Reiki and every one of us. Lesson 6

I Will Be Diligent

Diligence, what? A curious word for the principles but one of great value. We will define and better understand diligence, its connection to the present moment, and its importance in all interactions. Listening to others and attending to our work creates bonds of honesty and trust between and among people. Being diligent offers the gift of our presence in any situation.

Lesson 7

I Will Be Kind

The final precept presents the most basic tenet for our success in managing happiness. Expressing kindness can seem a trite and simple offering, but it proves invaluable for bolstering every relationship including the most important, the self. If we can embrace the guidelines of principles 1-4, expressing kindness becomes easy. Music credit: Manuel Portillo
