Listen to this when you are in the middle of your journey or it has been many years to fully experience the healing power of your breath and the transformation from breast cancer to wholeness of spirit. I'm Michelle Bradley,
Exercise physiologist,
Health coach,
And SomaBreath instructor.
This guided breathwork meditation has been lovingly created for anyone who is experiencing or has experienced breast cancer.
I wish it had been available during my own journey when I was seeking something to help calm my mind,
Soothe my body,
And reconnect me with hope.
Tapping into the power of the mind-body connection is a profound way to create inner peace and support healing.
Breathing to the rhythm of the music helps set a steady cadence,
Gently guiding your nervous system into a relaxing meditative state,
One in which your subconscious can begin working quietly and powerfully on your behalf.
And most importantly,
This is your practice.
If at any point you feel the need to return to natural breathing,
Honor that.
Trust yourself.
Simply listen and allow your body to guide you.
Let's begin.
Find stillness.
Let yourself be held by the surface beneath you.
Bring your attention to your breath,
Breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Let each breath be an invitation to soften,
Surrender,
And feel safe.
Now,
Let's scan your body,
Relaxing the muscles in your face,
Releasing any tension from your neck and shoulders.
Let your arms grow warm,
Heavy,
And soft.
Your chest,
Abdomen,
And back relax,
Softening the muscles in your legs,
Feet,
And toes.
From head to toe,
You are calm,
You are safe,
You are deeply relaxed.
Take a moment now to imagine yourself in a place that brings you peace.
Perhaps you're walking along a quiet woodland path,
The scent of the trees in the air,
Mist brushing your face,
Birdsong echoing through the trees.
Or maybe you're strolling along the shore at dusk,
Warm sand beneath your feet,
The horizon painted in soft pink and gold,
The waves rising and falling like your breath.
Or you may be in the desert under a star-filled sky,
Wrapped in blankets by a fire,
Laughter and love surrounding you,
Feeling cozy and deeply held.
Wherever your mind takes you,
Let it be a sanctuary,
A place where you feel safe,
Where your breath feels free,
And your heart feels open.
On this first round of rhythmical breathing,
We are going to shine light on anything that may be holding you back.
Is it fear,
Grief,
Uncertainty,
Or anger?
Are there stories or beliefs that you've carried for too long?
What emotion,
Thought,
Or memory rises and wants to be seen?
With loving curiosity,
Allow it to come forward.
You are strong enough to feel what is there.
You are safe enough to look in the shadows,
See what is hiding,
And bring it into the light.
Getting ready to breathe in beats.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Stay connected to your breath.
What is holding you back?
If a story arises,
One you've told yourself too many times,
Look at it now with kindness.
Is it still serving you?
Maybe it's time to let it go.
What is in the shadows?
Perhaps you feel tightness or tension somewhere in your body.
Begin to soften the edges.
Use your breath.
Bring compassion.
Ease the tension.
What are you bringing out of the shadows?
What message wants to be heard?
You have the courage.
You are strong enough to bring it into the light,
To be seen,
To be acknowledged,
So you can learn,
Grow,
And allow it to be released.
What is holding you back?
Getting ready to have our first large inhale of breath in 3,
2,
1.
Inhale and hold your breath for just a moment.
Exhale all the air out of your body and hold your breath out for as long as you can.
Let it be held.
Get a little uncomfortable.
If you need a little sip of air,
Take a little sip in.
Exhale fully out again and hold your breath on the exhale.
On my count,
We'll inhale together in 3,
2,
1.
Inhale fully.
Deep breath,
Healing breath in and hold and contract all your muscles.
Squeeze and hold and contract.
And on my count,
We will release and let go in 3,
2,
1.
Exhale fully,
Relaxing,
Allowing,
Resuming normal breath.
Whatever was holding you back,
Whatever feeling,
Whatever emotion,
Whatever story you brought out of the shadows,
Let this next round of breath work.
Allow it to be seen and let go.
You have everything you need to see with loving awareness,
With non-judgment and curiosity,
That which is no longer serving you.
What is ready to be released?
You are amazing.
You are brave.
You are remarkable.
Use the power of your breath to take what you brought out of the shadows,
What's holding you back.
And on this next round of breath work,
Use your breath to let it go.

Exhale fully,

Resuming normal breath.
When you breathe in,
Allow your belly to expand and deepen the breath.
When you exhale,
Let go,
Trust and surrender.
Every breath in,
Bringing beautiful oxygen.
Every breath out,
Deepening your commitment.
Visualize whatever has been holding you back as a color.
Let it reveal this color.
Begin to gather this color from your body,
Your chest,
Your back,
Your shoulders,
Your belly,
Wherever it has taken root.
Gather every speck into your hands,
Forming a luminous ball.
What would you like to say to this energy before you let it go?
Perhaps,
I release you.

Watch this ball of color lift from your hands,
Float higher and farther away,

Ask yourself,
What qualities do I need?
What do I want to call in to feel whole and empowered?
And let your answers arise gently with love.

You will draw the quality into your body.

You will release and trust.
What are you calling in?

Strength?
Clarity?
Forgiveness?
Self-compassion?
Resilience?
Perhaps it is the permission to be exactly as you are.
