What we do is we sit in a restful posture,
As restful as possible.
And if you are at home and if you wish to recline or lie down on your bed,
Please feel free to do that.
And as we get ready for this,
Ensure that your toes,
Your fingers are in a restful posture,
That they are not unnecessarily curled up or in strain,
That your arms are resting,
Hanging parallelly by your side.
That your shoulders are square and relaxed,
That your spine is erect,
But at the same time relaxed.
And more importantly,
Ensure that there is a gentle smile on your face.
And as you smile,
I'd like you to feel the sensation of your smile as if you are attending to meet first time in your life.
The sensation of smile,
How does it feel around your eyes?
How does it feel on your forehead?
See how it softens your eyes and your forehead.
And see how your smile softens your mouth,
Your lips,
Your cheeks.
But if you pay attention,
This same smile is softening even the back of your head.
The same smile is softening your entire physiology.
Smile is one of the best way to induce calm,
To induce healing.
And they say that this smile is the best way to activate your vagus nerve,
Which is responsible for healing and rejuvenation activities in your mind,
In your body.
So remember to smile and throughout this meditation,
If the smile fades away,
Bring it back.
Make your smile,
Make this calm.
The smile induces the anchor of this meditation.
And see how smile starts as a physical trigger,
As a physical activity.
But if you are sensitive to the effect of your smile,
You know the smile induces effects on your mind and on your spirit.
In the whole being.
So allow the smile to be deeper.
Not just physical.
And now visualize that this smile has become like a golden light.
Golden light filled with message of calm and healing.
Moving through your entire being.
Moving through your entire body.
From the head to your neck and throat.
See how the smile is traveling downward.
Sort of made of golden light.
Conveying the message that this is sufficient,
That this is the peace and happiness I deserve and I've been seeking.
And allow this peace and calm to come to your torso,
To your arms and hands,
Your lungs and heart.
And slowly allow it to travel to your stomach.
And as you continue to smile,
See how all these organs and parts of your body are also smiling.
Are also resting.
Are at peace.
And allow this calm to continue downward to your hips.
Slowly but surely see how this smile is infecting your lower body.
Calm and peace prevailing to your thighs,
Knees,
Your shins and calf.
And your ankles.
And even the soles of your feet are smiling,
Resting,
Relaxing.
And as you continue to smile,
See that your entire being,
Entire physical presence from the soles of your feet to the toes.
To the top of your head has become one smile.
One whole smile.
Resting.
And if there is a sense of anticipation as to what's next,
Let that go.
The sense of anticipation what's next is the party pooper.
Allow the presence to be known in its entirety.
And know that when you know the presence,
There is nothing else to be known.
To be conquered,
To be controlled,
To be managed.
And be completely at ease with just this,
That I know that I am this smiling presence.
I know that I am this smiling presence.
And there is nothing next.
And see that this sense of presence is ever fresh.
It's always new.
It is not evolving from past to future.
It is just this here and now,
The presence.
So as soon as you let go of that very subtle feeling of what's next,
As soon as your body,
Mind and breath are at peace with this presence,
Are at sync or in harmony with this presence,
You are already home.
You are already meditating.
You are already mindful.
You are already in non-dual recognition of yourself.
Non-dual recognition of self.
I know that I am this smiling presence.
So I'd like you to now smile and be this presence.
And as you breathe in and out in this presence,
Remain aware of the sensation of your breathing.
For five breaths on your own.
Inhaling.
Simple,
Soft breathing.
Becoming smiling presence with no sense of next.
Now imagine that you are a newborn child.
A newborn child has no concept.
No concept that this is my body,
Let alone a concept that this is my hand or this is my head.
For a newborn child,
The sensation of self is pure,
Raw sensation.
And it hasn't formed memory that the sensation I feel on my arms are arms.
In this,
As you sit,
Experientially if I ask you,
Bring in your awareness the experience of your arm.
You attend to the sensations in and around your arms.
But this sensation is what I call arm.
Apart from this sensation,
You have no experience of arm.
So this sensation is the definition of arm for us.
Experientially.
Not conceptually,
Not design or picture of arm.
But experientially,
This is all we know of arm.
Did you know that we don't necessarily know our body all the time?
We forget our body even when our eyes are open.
Only experience of body we have is through sensations of body.
When a part of our body is aching,
We are acutely aware of that part of the body.
But mostly we are not aware of the body.
So the sensation we call body is what we are focusing on today in this session.
But from the perspective of newborn child.
So again,
Remain smiling at ease.
And know that you are a newborn child.
A newborn child,
It is capable of knowing or rather feeling all the sensations.
All the bodily sensations.
It has not given name,
Shape,
Color or even memory of that part of that body.
So now from the newborn child perspective,
I'd like you to feel your sensation you later call arm.
Just a raw sensation in and around your arm without naming,
Without forming picture and not from memory.
Just the direct raw sensation or experience of arm.
Right arm and left arm.
From the newborn child's perspective,
See if you can bring your awareness to your head,
To your smile.
All as just raw sensations.
No story.
No shape.
Now bring the awareness to your heart region.
Newborn child knows nothing that this is heart beating.
You see the sensation,
Feel the sensation from that perspective.
Pure sensing.
Pure knowing of your heart.
This child is still smiling,
Still exploring the sensation.
This child is meditative.
A born little Buddha exploring the sensation.
This sensation it later calls breathing.
Just a sense of breathing.
Pure sensing.
It calls breathing.
Newborn child is breathing without knowing that this is breath.
This newborn child is completely happy exploring with closed eyes the sensation of body.
The movement of stomach as it breathes and the whole sensation that we call body.
See that when your eyes are closed,
When you see the sensation we call body from the perspective of newborn child,
How does it feel?
You haven't formed a memory of it.
You do not know that this is my body.
It is just a pure sensation.
Pure sensing.
Pure sensitivity.
Sensing itself.
See if this brings truth to you.
Pure sensitivity.
Sensing itself.
Newborn child is pure sensitivity and it is sensing itself without naming anything,
Without concept,
Without memory.
Pure knowing.
Pure knowing.
Knowing itself.
That is the experience.
Pure knowing.
Knowing itself.
Ask yourself that in this experience of knowing what are the things or stuff that is other than knowing?
If you refer to sensation as A or sensation B or sensation C,
They are all nothing but pure knowing.
You call sensation A your leg and sensation B your arm and sensation C your head,
But essentially they are just pure knowing,
Pure sensation sensation modulating in your awareness.
Pure knowing.
Knowing itself as arm,
As leg,
As head,
As one being.
Yes,
There may be a different sensitivity around your leg than your heart.
There may be a different sensitivity on your head,
But essentially they are all made of sensing,
Knowing and there is no other stuff present.
And it is your own direct experience.
Knowing,
Knowing itself.
Awareness,
Knowing the modulation of awareness.
So knowing yourself just as awareness,
Just as chaitanya,
Just as pure sensitivity.
You are not compartmentalizing knowing.
This exercise is very crucial.
It is the founding exercise to know yourself as pure sensitivity,
One homogeneous sensitivity,
Not divided in parts.
And when you explore with the same perspective,
Experiential knowing,
Your mind and then the world outside of you,
Slowly but surely you will know that no part of your experience is not pure sensing,
Is not pure knowing,
Is not pure awareness.
Your mind is pure awareness and all the sights,
Smell,
Touches,
All the perception that we call world is also made of just pure knowing,
Pure awareness.
In different modulation,
In different shapes and colors,
In different sensitivity,
But essentially just pure knowing,
Modulating itself and appearing as multiplicity and diversity of experiences.
So smile,
Smile and know that all you are knowing is knowing itself.
All you are knowing is the pure sensitivity itself and that is you.
It is not apart from you.
So continue to smile,
Continue to be at rest and continue to explore all that comes in your awareness from the perspective of newborn child.
The bodily sensation is known as sensitivity.
The sounds are known as sensitivity and allow the newborn child perspective to be bigger than just the body.
Newborn child is now curious,
Curious to the sensations of sound,
Of sight,
Of touch,
Of smell and of taste.
And like newborn child can only know the world from this five sense perceptions,
We also know the world just by this five sense perception.
There is no other world that we know of other than through this five sensory experiences.
So allow your newborn child perspective to be wider,
Inclusive or of all perceptions and sensations that we call world.
And just see experientially none of it is made of anything other than other than pure sensitivity.
From the newborn child perspective remain one with this knowing,
With this sensing,
With this sensitivity without trying to lose yourself in experience.
This remain anchored in pure knowing.
This newborn child is more curious about the nature of knowing than what it is knowing.
It's more curious about the nature of knowing than what it knows.
It's not curious about defining,
Creating concepts.
Just pure knowing.
A flooding mind.
See that they are also made of nothing but pure sensitivity.
Expressing itself in different ways.
Arising in awareness,
Known in awareness and made in awareness.
There is no part of your experience that is not known in awareness.
No part of your experience that is not known by awareness.
There is only one stuff that essentially it is made of that is awareness.
So with that perspective those of you in Canada and America you may go to sleep shortly.
May you continue this exploration of body,
World and your mental world with the perspective of newborn child that is just interested in pure sensing and pure knowing.
Those of us who has a whole day in front of us let's continue to come back to this pure sensing and knowing throughout our day.
Thank you so much for your time and your company.
And for next session if you have any question or if you wish to explore anything things that may not have been answered appropriately or fully in this session let's see if we can further unpack them.
Thank you so much for your company again.
