Allowing a gentle smile to spread on your face.
And as you become more ready for the practice,
I'd like you to visit that very natural sense of being.
Sense of being here,
Now,
Sense of being alive.
Without any doing,
Without any thought,
Just the intrinsic sense of being here.
And whatever it means for you.
And now letting it go,
And breathing in and out naturally and normally.
Without changing the pace or the rhythm of your breathing.
Scanning your entire body to make sure that none of the parts of your body is strained or under pressure.
You are welcome to adjust them,
Relax them.
When you feel ready,
Bringing your awareness to the soles of your feet.
You are welcome to wriggle your toes in order to feel your feet.
And see if you can feel the heels and the arcs.
See if you can feel the sense of touch.
Could be the carpet or your shoes,
Socks or the air.
See if you can feel all your toes.
Now bringing both of your feet in your awareness.
Moving upward.
And as you move upward,
You need to register any sensation in the body part that I mentioned.
See if you can feel the sensations in your ankles.
Any sensation.
And when you feel sensation,
You can move upward to your shins,
To your calf muscles.
Feeling sensations in this part of your body.
And then moving upward to your knees.
See if you can feel sensations inside and outside of your knees.
Even if it's a faint sensation,
As soon as you register a sensation,
You can allow your awareness to move upward.
And now wrapping your awareness around your thighs.
Tuning into the sense of support that the chair is providing to you.
Becoming more at ease with your posture.
And letting go of your weight.
Moving your thighs,
Feeling sensations around your hips.
When you feel ready,
Moving upward towards your lower back.
And moving upward inch by inch from your lower back to your middle back.
Feeling sensations in and around your lower back,
Middle back.
And moving upward to your upper back.
And you feel ready,
Taking your awareness to your stomach.
Feeling the rise and fall of your belly as you breathe in and out.
Feeling the sensations around your diaphragm as you breathe in and out.
Feeling the sensations around your chest region,
The movement of your lungs.
Feeling the sensations in and around your heart.
Gently bringing your awareness to your shoulders.
Using your shoulders.
You feel ready,
Bringing your awareness to your biceps,
Into your triceps.
Into your elbows,
Your forearms,
Your wrists.
Bringing your awareness to your thumbs,
Into all your fingers.
To the back of your hand,
Into your palm.
Now moving upward again to your neck and your throat,
To your jaw bones,
To your lips,
To your cheek,
Bringing awareness to your ears,
Your nose,
Your eyes.
Now feeling sensations around your forehead,
Your temples,
And the back of your head.
And finally feeling sensations if you could at the very top of your head.
It could be the sensations of air,
Atmosphere,
Or your hair,
Or the blood flow.
Now trying to hold your entire body in your awareness from the top of your head to the soles of your feet as one entity.
Without any effort,
Without any intense focus,
Just holding your entire body in your awareness is one unit.
Continue to breathe in and out very effortlessly.
Very effortlessly incorporating your breathing in your awareness,
So becoming body breath.
One breath at a time,
One moment at a time.
Just observing body breathing and letting go of any thoughts,
Any effort,
Any anticipation.
Getting more at ease with here and now.
And with the ease,
Counting five breaths.
In breath and out breath is one cycle.
Just counting five breaths at your own speed.
As you become more and more calm,
I'd like you to again get in touch with that sense of being without any effort.
It is there in the background,
The sense of being alive,
Being here,
Being now,
Without any effort.
Now letting go of it,
Becoming aware of the fact that you are aware of your body,
Your breath.
And now becoming aware of the fact that like fish is in water,
We are in air.
There is air all around us.
So becoming in tune with this atmosphere around us and incorporating this air,
This atmosphere in your awareness.
One way to do this is to by becoming aware of the fact that you are constantly interacting with atmosphere via your breathing.
What is outside of your body becomes inside of your body.
What is inside of your body becomes outside of your body via your out breath.
And this constant interaction with your atmosphere,
You are also exchanging the sounds via the sound waves that are brought to your ears by air.
So becoming aware of the soundscape around you and without any effort becoming available to this soundscape.
Applying the sounds from computer,
From your room,
From your body,
From outside of your room to present to your ear.
Let them come as one soundscape and let them pass through you.
Because very effortlessly becoming aware of all the sounds without separating any of them.
And letting go of any effort,
Letting go of any anticipation as to what's next.
Just being here aware of the space and the atmosphere around you.
You can do this very effortlessly.
It is very natural to you to just rest in knowing.
There is nothing to do,
Nothing to achieve.
Just resting in this knowing.
Also knowing the fact that your awareness is holding your bodily sensations,
Your breath,
All the sounds and the awareness of the space around you.
And that's a lot.
But you know that you can hold all of this in your awareness without separating any feature of it.
And while it may sound like a lot to hold,
Your awareness is also holding all your thoughts,
All your emotions that just constantly come and go.
Some thoughts stay here for longer and some thoughts come and go without even being registered.
So now becoming aware of even that part of your existence.
See if you can watch your thoughts like sky watching the clouds come and go.
Some clouds take longer,
Some clouds go fast,
But all clouds will disappear.
In the same way all sensations,
Shapes will come and go from your awareness.
That your watchfulness,
Your observing self will stay.
So becoming this observing self,
Becoming this awareness only without getting entangled with any storyline,
Any need to understand,
Any need to analyse,
Any urge to control and just be.
This being is not doing and is also not undoing.
And as you just be,
Note that when you observe your thoughts,
You are not thoughts.
When you observe your emotions,
You are not emotions.
When you observe your body,
You are apart from your body.
When you observe your breath,
You are not your breath.
So de-identifying yourself from all these phenomenon as you remain watchful,
Relaxed and just aware.
Note that all your senses are working as per normal.
There is no management needed.
So just staying in this natural restfulness which is quite normal to you.
Letting go of all your efforts,
Letting go of all your anticipations.
There is truly nothing to do,
Nothing to achieve,
Nothing to analyse and just be.
In some traditions,
This is known as silent illumination or the perfection of mind.
There is no method for this.
When all the methods go,
Your perfection of your mind or the silent illumination occurs.
So letting go of any need to control,
Understand,
Focus and just rest in your natural self.
Becoming sky-like,
As vast as the space.
Allowing a gentle smile to come on your face.
You can even observe the effect of this smile on your psychology,
On your physiology.
You can just observe these.
And as you continue to remain watchful awareness,
Restful awareness.
You can allow a sense of goodwill to rise from within you,
A sense of goodwill for yourself.
A very gentle effort to create the sense of goodwill for yourself.
And in repeating these three sentences after I do in your mind,
May I be well,
May I be happy and may I be at peace.
Staying with this sense of goodwill and further expanding it to include everyone in your home,
In your family.
May you all be well,
May you all be happy and may you all be at peace.
Further expanding the scope of your good view,
It is time including everyone in your building,
In your street.
May you all be well,
May you all be happy,
May you all be at peace.
Further expanding the scope of your good view,
In this time including everyone on campus,
In your suburbs.
May you all be well,
May you all be happy and may you all be at peace.
Further expanding the scope of your good view,
In this time including everyone,
Everyone on the earth.
May you all be well,
May you all be happy and may you all be at peace.
And for one last time,
Including all the living and non-living beings in your awareness,
The scope of your good view,
May you all be well,
May you all be happy and may you all be at peace.
Now staying here in this expanded scope of good view and becoming this good view.
Good view for yourself and good view for everyone,
For everything.
Staying here for a few moments.
Becoming aware of the space around you,
Becoming aware of your body,
Its weight on a chair,
Becoming aware of the soles of your feet,
Of your knees,
Becoming aware of your hips,
Your back,
Your stomach and your entire torso,
Becoming aware of your arms and hands,
Becoming aware of your shoulders and your neck,
Your entire face.
Allowing a smile to spread on your face and let it percolate through to your entire body.
And knowing that this sense of good view,
This sense of being is always a part of you.
With that,
You know you feel ready,
Gently opening your eyes.
